"The reglaze of my bathtub looks fantastic, like a brand new tub! They also re caulked the bathtub and two sinks, and the errands in the kitchen. The whole job looks great, and they charged less than two other contractors I got estimates from."

"I would hire this company over and over again! Humberto, his son and their guys are amazing! Our bathroom and laundry room had gotten water damage due to a backed up sewer line. Humberto, his son, and their team replaced drywall, baseboards, primed and painted both rooms. They redid the laundry room floors, and the vanity in the bathroom. Everything looks amazing, and we have already discussed with them if they can redo the rest of downstairs, paint upstairs and my kitchen cabinets. They are VERY NEAT workers, always cleaning as they go. They’re reliable, trustworthy and you can tell they aren’t just in it for the money. Humberto is really compassionate."

"I had asked fr a free estimate to have my bathroom tub redone. I was under the impression te old one would be removed & replaces with a brand new one. This company leaves your existing tub and adds plastic side wall panels to it. NOT WHAT I WANTED DONE."

"Mad City was personable and professional with all that needed to be done at my home. Patio door replacement, bedroom window replacement, and shower stall installation. They even hired a subcontractor to repair a hole in the ceiling that was caused by a leaky bathtub. My highest complements!"

"We have a smaller upstairs bathroom that had not been touched since 1975. The shower had been unusable for over a decade due to leakage. The space had to be completely gutted down to the studs and completely redone. The contractor we had used several times over the years retired, so we needed someone new who we could trust. Radical Renovations (Angelo) was recommended to us by N & S Supply in Kingston and I'm SO happy we hired him! He's professional, responsive, patient and finds solutions to all issues that invariably come up when you're dealing with old homes. Plus, the crew who he brought in to work with him was also pleasant and professional. I would absolutely hire Angelo again...in fact I already am!"

"Veteran Tile responded to my request for someone to replace bathroom floor tile right away. Sergio was available to come by right away and the estimate was fair. Project was completed within about a week and a half of my initial contact with them. Floor came out beautiful. Sergio was both professional and courteous. I would definitely recommend Veteran Tile."

"I got an email from Angie?s List advertising the last day of
a special for 4 hours of contractor work for $129.  This was great luck because I recently bought
my first home and had a few repair jobs needed to be done and the price was
amazing.  I called Anton and he was very accommodating
in fitting me in around my schedule.
Also, Anton had me send him pictures of the items that needed to be
repaired.  At the last minute I had to
reschedule because I had to take my daughter to the doctor and he was very accommodating
and got me rescheduled right away.  He
arrived on time and was perfectly okay when I offered him a pair of disposable
shoe covers so he wouldn?t have to remove his boots to walk on the carpet
because it was a little muddy out.  He
also threw a tarp over the stairs leading to the bathroom for extra
protection.  The temperature outside was
below freezing and the second job was repairing my storm door which had pulled
away from the frame during a wind storm.
I felt terrible about him having to be out there in the cold but Anton
insisted it was fine and he just had the best attitude.  He finished both projects, which also
required a trip to Lowe?s for hardware needed for the door repair, within the 4
hours.  He also managed to salvage my
existing exterior door frame which saved me the cost of replacing it.  Everything was cleaned up and ready to use
when he left.  I have some renovation
projects I have planned down the road and I definitely will be calling Anton
again!

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The average cost to convert a tub to a shower is around $3,000, but prices can range from $1,000 to as high as $15,000. A more typical range is between $1,200 and $8,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the amount of plumbing work required, the size of the shower, and the type of materials and fixtures chosen. A prefabricated shower stall is a more budget-friendly option, while a custom shower with features like luxury tiles, unique tiling, smart technology, or accessibility features will be at the higher end of the cost spectrum.

What you include in your bathroom remodel will depend on your budget, personal preferences, and the current condition of your bathroom. Bathroom renovations often involve changing out the shower or tub, faucet, showerhead, tiles, flooring, mirrors, sink, cabinets, and vanities. You may also want to upgrade the wallcovering, adding new wallpaper or paint.

If your bathtub is in overall good shape with minor scratches, discoloration, or just general wear and tear, it's best (and less expensive) to refinish it.

If your tub has large cracks, is leaking, or is otherwise severely damaged, we recommend replacing it with a new bathtub. Refinishing a bathtub can only fix superficial problems, so these issues will still be present or reappear after a refinishing.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

Updating to modern styles and efficient models can enhance bathroom appeal and increase property value.
