"Slower than expected; due to rain and storms. Normally a crew of 4 experienced painters showed up at 9 am and often stayed until 5:30 or 6 pm. They laid tarps everywhere and were respectful to our neighbors. Excellent detail and trim work. They stored all equipment and replaced deck furniture daily. Excellent crew. Quiet and efficient."

"They did a decent job. Some problems with detail and trim work, but they fixed it. They also did some extra things, like installing a new toilet seat in the powder room and new plywood under the kitchen sink. I would hire again because of their responsiveness to customer requests/demands."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

The length of time it takes to paint a house will depend on whether you’re doing it yourself or hiring a pro, and the time of year in which you’re planning to do it. A professional paint company can likely complete the job within three to four days, but they may need more time to account for bad weather. By contrast, it may take a week or more when opting to DIY.

Paint your accent wall last after painting the other walls in the room. This will prevent color bleed and splatter from the adjacent walls. Be sure to give your other walls plenty of time to fully dry and cure before painting your accent wall—you don’t want the tape to pull off fresh paint when you remove it.

Painted vinyl siding can last 10 years or longer. To ensure long-lasting results, be sure to use vinyl-friendly paint as well as proper preparation and application techniques. Note that if you live in a harsher climate with frequent storms or excessive heat, for example, your vinyl siding paint job may not last as long.

The best kind of paint for barns is latex paint because it’s less likely to fade, lasts for a decade, and is flexible. You can also use latex exterior paint mixed with linseed oil in your primer to make it extra durable.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.
