"Billy and his crew were an absolutely pleasure to work with. They exceeded my expectation to replace my boiler and hot water heater along with associated piping in record time working in concert with the GC to complete all work in 3 days. The finished work was neat and clean correcting errors with my original installation. All debris was removed each day. He ensured I was satisfied, kept me informed of the progress and what to expect. Upon leaving he made recommendations to have all my air valves replaced in my radiators and encouraged me to call with any questions. I appreciate the care he and his crew took with my home."

"Used them to fix items on an inspection report including boiler relief valves, expansion tank draining and service, check waste water pipe. Great work, and even came back a few days later to drain an old expansion tank that was causing a valve to leak. No charge. Stand by their work and made it right. No complaints to."

"We hired Barbara to fix the kitchen sink, install a valve in the bathroom sink, and repair the shower in the upstairs bathroom. On a second trip, she installed new outside spigots to the back and front of the house. Everything's working great and she was on time and reasonable in price."

"I want people to know that Chris helped me out right after tropical storm Ida in what could have been a catastrophic flood to my basement. And on his birthday! I am forever grateful for his help. He rerouted my sump pump lickety split, and both him and his son were super nice and professional. Thank you Chris, and if you donâ t use him youâ re a fool!"

"Realized my boiler was leaking.......a very stressful thing to happen as we are entering the colder months. Consulted Home Advisor and was connected with On time Heating and Piping. I explained to Matthew I would need a new boiler. He went a step further and offered to replace and reconnect my basement heating loop and pump. I thought this would have been another job; but he gave me a fair price to do everything. On time Piping and Heating was timely, neat and provided quality workmanship. I highly recommend this company. Now I have great heat on both floors of my home. Thanks Matthew and team; I am warm and cozy now!!!!"

Small jobs welcome

"Extremely satisfying by the work done by this company. I used him first regarding a thermostat installation that kept us in the cold for many weeks. He came in and 100% fix the problem..up to today, the thermostat works beautifully. I used them again recently for a ceiling drip that we were not sure where it was coming from ! .!! 100% problem solved!! The best part of using this pro (Felix), is that he’s very kind and very professional. Thanks again for a job well done!!"

I would definitely recommend this company."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

Costs range from $300 to $1,200, depending on the pump type, issue, and installation complexity.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

A water pressure booster doesn't require special maintenance. Like any house system, inspections should be a regular part of your annual schedule. Check for leaks, faulty valves, pressure loss, and mineral build-up. Pressure loss could be a result of mineral build-up, and you can descale the system with a vinegar and water solution.

If you notice any new sump pump noises, such as persistent clanging or gurgling, then you likely have a sump pump problem on your hands. Foul odors coming from the pump can also indicate problems. Additionally, if your unit turns on but doesn't pump water, you might have to address electrical problems. In any of these cases, it's a good idea to hire a professional to address the issue.
