"Lesson learned. Always get an estimate. BEFORE the work is done. At least a digital copy. Arrangements for the project were made, with some one named Lynn, for the company to send someone to complete the work. We were quoted over the phone 4500-5000 which included a mold test. A sub contractor with an entirely different company (National Mold Company) was sent. When the contractor arrived, he stated that the job would be much more simpler than first thought. This led us to believe that the job would cost less, no. All said and done, they charged $5500. All said and done, it's almost like no work was done. The stains and the smell are still there. Only one actual board was taken upon the attic room. The ceiling in the bedroom was primed and painted but are still visible and have a funky smell. At this point I'm going to. Do what we should have done; Do the job ourselves. Just now with $5500 less dollars in our pockets. A detailed receipt was not given even though it was requested."

"About to come up on the one year anniversary of signing a contract with AE and they have still not completed their work nor have they returned all of my money. To date, they still have over $8K of my money which should be sitting in my savings account earning interest instead of paying their bills. I want to make it clear that the staff who works for them, namely Sal, is wonderful and is a great worker/contractor in his own right. When Sal comes to the property he is professional, courteous, hard working, and very timely. I cannot stress this enough. The two owners of this business, on the other had, have done nothing but disappoint us. So many empty promises, over-promising and under-delivering, 3 bounced checks, recently missed appointment for the last phase of our project, and 3 or more unanswered messages to confirm and then to ask why they didn't show and when to expect our money that has been promised since JANUARY! Josh is such a nice guy and I hate to write this review and update but a business person he is not. I wish him and his wife all the best but could never use them again."

A one-time leak can cause mold, but it depends on the severity of the leak, the humidity in your home, and other factors. If you catch the leak quickly and the damage is minor, you may not experience any mold. If the water soaks into absorbent materials like drywall and doesn’t dry quickly enough, though, mold will start to grow within 24 to 48 hours. If your home’s interior has a high humidity level, mold could set in within just 12 hours. It’s best to run a blower fan for 24 hours after a one-time leak to avoid mold growth.

Usually, when you have mold, you will notice that your indoor air quality isn’t what it should be. You might notice dank odors, for instance, coming from your carpet, and it may feel damp or spongy. Or you may find that your family members are showing more allergy symptoms than usual, from coughing and sneezing to itchy, watery eyes.

And, of course, if you’ve recently experienced flooding or you live in a particularly humid environment, that’s a good sign you’re at risk for mold growth.

In mild cases of mold growth, you can DIY mold remediation with a simple cleaning using safe and natural cleaning solutions like baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, or lemon juice. However, if the mold is larger than 10 square feet or you suspect toxic black mold, you should not do mold remediation on your own. Instead, you should hire a professional mold removal company to handle the job.

If you can locate building records, you may be able simply to see what type of tiles (or bonding agent) was used. Any flooring made between 1950 and 1989 more than likely contains asbestos. Asbestos tiles can also be slightly thicker than other tiles and often measure 9” x 9”, 12” x 12”, and 18” x 18. Black mastic was a commonly used adhesive that contains asbestos.

While a professional can always help, there are some common plumbing culprits you can check yourself to see if you can find the sewer gas smell. For example, you should check your water traps, sometimes called P-traps and S-traps, which are located under sink, shower, and laundry drains. The wax ring beneath the base of your toilet, which creates a watertight seal with the plumbing, could also have gone bad.
