"Used clean cut to paint the outside of my camp, stairs & dock and additionally to stain the inside of the porch overlooking on Galway Lake last season. They did an outstanding job, the paint quality was top notch and the camp has not looked this good in meant many years. I delayed reviewing until a season in and the job still looks great. I would highly recommend for a quality job, timeliness and value."

"Mr Kâ s painting and remodeling is outstanding. Their quality of work, attention to detail and overall customer service is exceptional. We have a 3 story Victorian home that needed a tremendous amount of prep work before the painting. In addition, we had several different colors of paint that needed to be applied. Mr Kâ s team did a wonderful job and our home looks absolutely beautiful!! We highly recommend Mr Kâ s!!"

"Scott is a very competent professional and an extremely pleasent human being. He did what he said he would - on time and on budget. He cleaned up every evening and did his best to paint our kitchen, dining room and living space with a minimum of disruption to us."

"Very pleased with the quality of work! I had the exterior of my home painted as well as my deck stained and I could not be happier with the final product. Nice people to work with, would definitely hire them again."

"Artie is not only pleasant to deal with, he is a pro that care about the the details. Our deck and siding work wer handled exceptionally well. I've hired Artie back again for more work. He's easy to communicate with and very responsive. Changes in mid project were done with a clear and professional manner. Unforeseen problems encountered along the way were pointed out and discussed. Working with Artie was a great experience and a good value."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Manufacturers use a different process and formula for exterior paint versus interior. The exterior formula has to withstand elements like temperature, UV lighting, moisture, wind, and debris. Interior paint doesn’t need to be as tough, only exposed to dust, scratches, dents, scuff marks, and the like.

You should stain both sides of your fence to get the full benefits. Fences often fall along property lines, so you may want to save a buck by leaving your neighbor’s side in the dust. If you do that, all you get is a slightly better view. Moisture and UV rays can still sneak in through the side that’s unpainted or worn down and damage your fence. Rot and rust will spread, even if you can’t see it from your side of the lawn.

Staining a fence is less expensive than painting a fence due to the cost of materials and the longevity of the finish. Stain not only lasts longer than paint without chipping or peeling, but you also won’t have to put in the extra time and cost to prime the surface first.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.
