"Paul did an excellent job. He listened to my questions and answered them fully. Paul advised me of exactly what he was going to do and gave me choices of which he explained the advantages and disadvantages. He went along with my choices. He was punctual, responded to my telephone calls promptly. He left the work area as he found it. He has a really nice personality. I am planning on using his services again and would highly recommend him as a plumber. On the plus side he is a sole proprietor which to me means that he cares about his work more then a large company that has many employees."

"Dave and his team are SUPER! They encountered lots of problems with our project. We had so much to do, replace our dishwasher, add a water line to our fridge, put in a new bathtub on a very hard spot, install a new sinkâ ¦ all in a house that had a mind of its own. Every time something came up Dave just laughed and kept on working until it was done right! I highly recommend them. They will be coming back in the future for sure when we do our next building project!"

"I feel SO lucky that I was able to find Angela. It was really important for my husband and I to find somebody trustworthy because we had a LOT of work needed in our house. We interviewed 5 different contractors, and for each one, I asked the exact same questions about the renovations to see how their responses change. Angela was by far the most honest and knowledgeable. There are contractors who say they can do anything, but DONT BELIEVE THEM. That's when you end up in situations where budgets get out of control, and worse, you have a sub-par product. I found Angela's price to be very reasonable for the experience and work that she produces. Angela's guys (Billy / Jason / Rob) were always on time, and very respectful. They kept the area very clean. Because my husband is immune compromised, they also always wore a mask. What I liked best about Angela and her guys is that you can tell that they have had experience because they were able to provide good sound advice for the reno (ex. where I should put the shower head etc). Even though there were some additional costs that were unexpected, it was nothing that was outrageous, and Angela was always very great about being fully transparent, offering us other options (that won't need money, or a expensive vs inexpensive options) so that we felt like we had a choice. Angela really truly cares for all of her customers, she always stops in to check the work to make sure that they are up to HER standards, even if to me, it's not a big deal. She has been working at our home for the last 9 months, and I feel like she is now one of my friends because of the care she gives me and the trust I have in her. There is MORE to do at my house, and I will definitely be hiring Angela again. If you are able to get on her calendar, I highly recommend it!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Yes, shower water goes into the septic tank. Shower water is a type of greywater, and in fact, all water used in a home with a septic system—including water from sinks, toilets, the dishwasher, and the washing machine—drains into the tank. When shower water enters the tank, debris like soap and hair travels with it. The solid debris sinks to the bottom to become sludge, while soap residue joins the scum layer at the top. The remaining water is treated in the tank before moving to the drain field for further treatment and dispersal. It is important to avoid putting oil or harsh chemicals down any drain, as they can cause clogs or disrupt the beneficial bacteria required for proper wastewater management in the septic system.

A plumbing emergency is a problem that threatens to severely damage your home or put your family at risk if not addressed immediately. If leaving the issue until regular business hours will cause more damage, it's an emergency. Examples include burst pipes, major leaks, significant drain clogs, a lack of hot water, a suspected gas leak, an out-of-control water heater, or a sewer line backup forcing gases into your home. Many home insurance policies will cover sudden and unexpected plumbing emergencies, provided they are not caused by homeowner negligence.

No, homeowners should never attempt to fix a gas leak themselves. Gas leaks pose serious health and fire hazards. Exposure to leaking gas can make you sick, and accumulated gas can ignite and explode. So always take leaks seriously and seek the help of a pro right away. While you may be able to detect a gas leak, always call a licensed professional to handle repairs and replacements.

Silicone-based caulk is known for its waterproofing qualities, so it’s the best option for any bathroom area. While it’s often more expensive, it will provide a better, longer-lasting seal than acrylic or latex caulk. Use it along the base of the toilet to prevent leaks and keep the area clean and protected.

An outdoor water valve typically has a round or oval handle that you can turn to control the water flow. It may be located in a protective box or pit near the property line, where the main water line connects to your house.
