"After having a chimney fire the staff at Four Winds came and cleaned and inspected our fireplace. They are full of knowledge and gave me options as far as what to do. This 4th generation company is up to date on codes and customer service. They explained everything that was wrong and how to fix it even if they couldn t fix it . "Tried to engage several other companies to complete my project. Very glad none of the others worked out. A simple method is to check for airflow by placing your hand near the fireplace opening; if you feel a draft or hear wind whistling, the damper is open. While hardwoods are the best woods to burn, a few types of woods should be avoided when burning. Wood that has not had time to season, or “green wood,” should be avoided.
