"Mr. Thomas Norfleet and his crew were very professional, and careful with furniture and other items such as wall paintings and plants. His team cleaned all areas of any paint drips, and removed all that should he discarded. I'm very satisfied with the paint job that was completed in a short period of time. ..one day. "Excellent efficient work, timely service, flexible scheduling. Quality, quality quality!!! I closed on my new home on December 15th, which didn't leave me much time to make minor changes before the holidays. James and Bianca at Precision Painting Plus were a dream come true. James came out to see our home a day after my Angie's list request. He provided me with an complete detailed estimate for my project and was super thoughtful to throw things in for Little or No cost because we had just bought the home, Ex. He painted the closets in my kids room. #Grateful. The estimate came with all of the material. Quality paint and quality painters! The paint is yours to keep at the end of the project. As they were already full of projects for the holiday season, I asked if there was any way my project could have been done before Christmas. James made a call and actually got a crew out to my home 2 days later, they worked late into the night on day 1 and was able to wrap up my project on day 2 by 5pm. I got a Huge master bedroom done, the master bath, my children's room (2x) their bathroom. My formal living and dining room done - very large space and my half bathroom. The work was AMAZING! The service included all the walls, trims and doors. I couldn't be happier! Bianca is the project consultant and she was also Top Notch! Extremely Knowledgeable about colors and finishes and walked me through with NO RUSH color options - I was a deer without headlights. Her direction really helped me pull it together. At such a happy but overwhelming time of purchasing a new home, they were the perfect team to help bring some ease to what could have easily been a overwhelming process. Thank you so much guys and thank you Angie's list for this Excellent recommendation!!! I'm truly beyond grateful!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.

You may need to replace drywall because of smoke damage. If the drywall is covered in soot, you may be able to clean it, but it will require a lot of time and effort. You could spend hours cleaning the drywall only to find there is more damage and it needs to be replaced anyway. It’s usually easier and safer to remove the smoke-damaged drywall and replace it.

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

Yes, you can install drywall over plaster, but there are important factors to consider. While it can create a smooth, flat surface, it is often not the best approach. Installing drywall over plaster will increase the wall's thickness, which can cause issues with existing window and door frames that may no longer fit. You might also need to adjust power outlets to keep them accessible. A better, though more expensive, option is to remove the old plaster and lath entirely before installing new drywall. Drywalling directly over plaster seals in the old material, and if any problems arise later, you will need to remove both layers down to the structural beams for repairs. Given the potential complications, this job is best handled by professionals.

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.
