"My experience with Malik was excellent from start to finish. I hired them to make over a small set of outdoor stairs. Malik suggested improvements to my original plan which have really enhanced the whole look of the area. Malik was responsive, courteous and easy to work with. They completed the work promptly for a very fair price."

"Responded quickly to initial request, performed on site inspection and provided clear written estimate. Was lowest bid of 3 bidders. Provided proof of insurance and DOT work permit promptly. Able to schedule work to allow ground floor business to continue to operate during sidewalk replacement. Work crew showed up on schedule and were professional. On site supervisor kept all parties informed of work progression. Work was completed on time and work was satisfactory. Have a new sidewalk that is the equal of, or better than, other buildings on the block. Overall process was painless. Very satisfied with the results."

"We hired Nicholas and Son for asphalt sealing and couldn?t be happier. Our driveway was in really rough shape, and we?d been getting sky high quotes elsewhere. Their pricing was fair and reasonable, and the work looks great. The crew showed up on time, explained what they?d do, worked efficiently, and kept the area neat. The sharp edges, even coverage, and clean finish really show they care about doing it right. We?d definitely hire them again."

"Nelson was great! He is super responsive, very polite, and has offered us a very reasonable rate to plow our driveway, walkway and sidewalk. We have already used him multiple times and will now be ?our guy.? Highly recommend."

"I had REEM construction come to my house and had them redo the entire front of my house. New front steps for my front door, along with paver flooring and my front lawn retaining wall on both sides of my door. They did an amazing job and I couldn?t be happier. Throughout the entire job I was given professional advice on brick and paver selection and layout, and help with getting some nice lights in. Can?t recommend them enough!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt driveways are affordable and able to withstand sub-zero temperatures. The asphalt surface makes it easy to plow snow, and it has excellent traction for slippery winter days. Another benefit: it absorbs heat from the sun and can then help to melt snow and ice more quickly than other surfaces.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

Yes, recycled asphalt driveway costs can be substantially lower than new asphalt. With new asphalt costing between $90 and $190 per ton, this option can cost as much as 10 times more than laying down asphalt millings.

The three most common types of asphalt are hot asphalt, MC cold mix, and UPM asphalt. Hot asphalt is used most often for paving and patching roadways while it’s hot and workable. MC cold mix asphalt cures more slowly than hot asphalt, but it can be used for temporary patches and repairs in low-traffic areas. UPM is also used cold, but it can be used as a longer-term fix, usable in almost any conditions at almost any temperature.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.
