"The salesman recommended two exterior treatments to get rid of the hornets/wasps. The main nest was on top of the garage, two stories up, and we could hear them in the wall between two of our bedrooms. They scheduled us very quickly and we haven't seen any hornets/wasps inside since the first treatment about 10 days ago. The first treatment took about 30 minutes and the second, 6 days later, took about 10 minutes. The two reasons for the B rating, not A, are that the salesperson said they would warrant the work for a year, meaning until Dec 31 of the current calendar year (I asked for clarification), but the contract e-mailed to us specified 30 days. In addition, the person doing the second treatment didn't have a ladder, and was using some spray thing to shoot liquid up. It seems unlikely that the main nest actually got hit a second time, since it was on top of a two-story roof. We were also hoping they could either block the hole that was allowing insects into the house or at least tell us what work might need to be done so we could hire someone else to do that, but since the 2nd person didn't have a ladder, that didn't happen either. Also the 2nd person said he couldn't understand the notes the first one left, which seemed odd. Overall, the immediate issue was satisfactorily resolved, however."

"This was the most comprehensive pest control company I ever dealt with. I also love that after each phase I received an email of the detailed report of the work that was done and with the name of the person who was responsible for the work."

"It went as well as it could have. I first contacted this company for a second estimate (the first was a lot more, by about $100.00) on a Monday and I had an appointment scheduled for that Wednesday, two days later, between noon and 2 PM. The technician, Josh, called when he was about 15 minutes away, showing up around 1:30. He got right to work in removing it, and once the hornets had died, he broke it apart to show me the inside. (Even though it was a nest of stinging insects, I must admit that the intricate structure within was amazing. He took the time to explain how the hornets and hive fuctioned, which was really interesting - - he missed his true calling, in that he should have been an entomologist.) If I ever have the need for hive removal again, I would call Absolute Pest Control without a second thought, and have absolutely no reservations about recommending this company to friends!!!!! Overall, with the senior discount, I felt the price was very fair; I had checked on-line to get an idea of the average cost of nest removal, and this company’s pricing was well within reason. Plus, the nest had to be reached by ladder...."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

No, mulch itself does not necessarily attract termites even though it’s usually made of shredded wood. Some types of mulch like cedar or cypress resist termites because they’re toxic or unappetizing to the wood munchers. However, when the mulch is deep enough, say three inches or more, it creates a perfect habitat for insects of all kinds to build nests.

Make it easier for your inspector to do a thorough assessment by preparing your home ahead of time. That includes:

  • Noting any signs of pests around the home

  • Removing obstacles in the way of the attic, basement, plumbing, garbage, and other key areas that inspectors will need to access

  • Keeping children and pets away from inspection areas

One scorpion sighting doesn’t necessarily mean there’s an infestation, but finding a scorpion in your home should always be taken seriously. Don’t panic, though, as that will only make the situation more stressful, and you may act irrationally out of fear. Most scorpions have extremely painful stings that cause swelling and redness, but they’re not life-threatening.

However, while not all species are dangerous, the Arizona bark scorpion, which is common in the southwest U.S., is highly venomous and potentially deadly to humans. Never attempt DIY removal if you suspect it may be the Arizona bark scorpion—instead, contact a pest control professional immediately for safe, effective scorpion removal

Exterminators can get rid of your current ant problem, but they won’t prevent ants from coming back. So it’s important to implement ant preventatives to avoid future infestations.

The primary reason ants enter your home is to find food. If they can’t find any, they won’t survive. So, the most effective way to prevent ant infestations is to clean, clean, and clean some more.

Keep your kitchen sparkling and wash your dishes immediately (or at least give them a quick rinse and wash off leftover food). Take out your garbage and compost as often as possible and tightly seal all your kitchen containers, especially the mason jars you use to hold your sugar—sugar is gold to ants.

You can also hire a local handyperson to help you prevent future ant infestations. The handyman can seal cracks and fix leaks throughout your home, which will keep any ants from entering.

Yes, professionals use non-toxic methods and materials to protect both health and the environment.
