Customers say: Quality work

"I was in need of boiler repairs. Most plumbing companies I contacted wanted to charge by the hour plus parts. I found NY HVAC on Home advisor and phoned them speaking with Vinny. Vinny from NY HVAC was a true professional. He told me over the phone that I would get great work at the price he quoted. When he arrived, he explained everything in detail that should be done to my boiler and maintained the original quote he had given me over the phone even though he was adding in additional repairs for me. Just an overall nice guy and very clean work. It's tough to find an honest plumber that does great work and today I found one. I have already placed New York HVAC phone number in my phone as my go-to Plumbing company. There is a reason this company has solid reviews and I'm adding a 5 STAR to this review and will share my positive experience with friends and family looking for a great Plumbing Company."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s best to turn off an AC unit that’s blowing hot air to prevent system damage and avoid expensive energy bills. If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.

Yes, mini split systems cool equally as well as central air. While a central system circulates air throughout the entire home at the same temperature, a mini split system allows each room to be cooled or heated at different temperatures based on your own preferences. Hire a HVAC professional to determine which type of system is best for your home.

One of the fastest ways to unfreeze an AC unit is to turn off the unit and, if it’s warm outside, use the fan-only mode to help blow warmer air through the unit to speed up the defrosting process. While it may be tempting to use a hair dryer to defrost the air conditioner, that high heat can damage the coils.

After defrosting, if you can safely solve the issue with a fix like changing the filter, go ahead and do so. Otherwise, call in a pro before turning your AC back on.

Split systems are the most common type of HVAC system. Split systems have two main units: an indoor one and an outdoor one. These units work together to pull in air, heat or cool it, and distribute it throughout your home. Other popular types of HVAC systems include hybrid systems and packaged heating and air systems.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.
