"Truth be told I have had more than one negative experience with contractors. Working with Scott restored my faith in the existence of professionals out there who are committed to delvereing results with impeccable work ethics, attention to details and care for client satisfaction. I will go back to Scott for future work as I have watched him priotrise my happiness with everything from the quality of paint to the smallest issues with the new floors we got."

Small jobs welcome

"Jason was wonderful to work with. We contacted many contractors to discuss our renovations. Jason was by far the most responsive, thorough, professional and easiest to work with. He was available and patient with all of our endless questions. We had many issues along the way including configuring kitchen layout, broken medicine cabinets, floor refinishing, delayed appliances, etc. It was all extremely stressful, but working with Jason made the process more manageable. I joke that he was also a marriage counselor for us since my husband and I didn't agree on everything, shockingly. :) I highly recommend working with Jason!"

"I just finished a gut renovation of my West Village apartment. The CNM team (Matt, Jose, Mateo & Vicente) are a tremendous group to work with. They provided top notch customer service and excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. They would be my #1 recommendation to anyone looking for a General Contractor. 10 out of 10 experience."

"Nunez’s team did a fantastic job! We are super happy with everything! They are reasonable and the quote I received didn’t change. They also cleaned up when they finished the project (mopping and dusting). We have other projects and will definitely be hiring Nunez. I highly recommend. I highly recommend this contractor."

"I hired Build N Bolt to build stairs for my deck (one story) from the moment Wilson arrived to assess the project and create an estimate I knew he was a professional. He made some careful measurements and discussed several options and designs. Within 24 hours I had a quote in writing. We agreed to the price and the start date was set. Wilson and his crew arrived on time on the day promised and finished the job on time. The stairs look great. I would definitely recommend this company and will not hesitate to hire them again if needed."

"LI & A Construction completed two projects for us. The first was last summer. Mr. Hetnarien and his team eliminated a section of the houseâ s back deck. This year LI & A Construction updated a section of a small bathroom in our house. On both projects, Mr. Hetnarien and his crew did an outstanding job. My research for a general contractor led me to LI & A Contraction Corp. My first requirement was that the business have the necessary license and insurance in good standing and Mr. Hetnarien â s business did. On communication and responsiveness, they get high marks. Mr. Hetnarien always got back to me within 48 hours. He is both accessible and approachable. Both jobs were carried out promptly. If they anticipated a delay because of bad weather (and there was), this was made known to me ahead of time. He and his team are knowledgeable, professional, and respectful. I would not hesitate to hire Mr. Hetnarien again."

"I hired this contractor to renovate my bathroom, and I couldn?t be happier with the experience. The owner was professional, communicative, and kept me informed throughout every stage of the project. From start to finish, the entire team made the renovation process smooth and stress-free by answering my questions and providing excellent customer service. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and I truly appreciated their attention to detail. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to remodel or renovate their bathroom or kitchen."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.
