"Overall & bottom line, the 3 specialists the Expert Ctr sent to install a brand new & properly install 2 additional window air conditioners did an excellent job installing all 3 units. I would recommend to anyone who needs either a/c repair or installation. The estimate they gave me matched the price I paid. They left the three areas clean & free from debris from their projects. They were polite & very professional. The quality of the work is excellent: all fittings are tight w/ no drafts, & the units seem to be properly & firmly housed into their windows. My only problem is that they had to rescheduled the appt & they still came hours late."

"I used a coupon from Angie's List for this cleaning service. It went very well and I would definitely use them again. Kent came to the house with one other person and they finished in 3 hours. They arrived on time and Kent was organized and ready to begin immediately. The house was clean and orderly when they left."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

The best way to clean central vacuum pipes is to use a maintenance sheet to dislodge clogs and wipe the inside of the pipes clean. Alternatively, a professional can clean your central vacuum pipes for you.

Common repairs for central vacuum cleaners include motor repair, electrical repair, and blocked filters. Central vacuum motor issues typically come with a burning smell and loss of suction. With these issues, you might need simple lubrication to keep it running smoothly, or for more extreme problems, you could need a motor replacement.

Electrical problems or losing suction strength, might be reasons to swap out electrical components for new ones. However, a local central vacuum repair professional can tell you the best plan of action for your system.

The disadvantages associated with central vacuums start with cost. They are expensive to install, especially in existing homes, as retrofitting requires opening walls. The system's bulky hoses can also be inconvenient to maneuver and store compared to portable vacuums. Additionally, repairs may need professional service, adding to maintenance costs. Lastly, while powerful, they may be overkill for smaller homes or apartments, making the investment less practical for some households.

Maintaining your central vacuum cleaner is crucial to extending its lifespan. Ensuring the filter is cleaned or changed often is vital to ensuring clogs don’t impact your motor. In addition, inspecting motor brushes regularly and lubricating the engine when needed helps keep it in tip-top shape. Finally, cleaning the central vacuum hose of dirt and debris helps keep clogs at bay, especially if you’ve vacuumed something wet or sticky.

If your central vacuum has lost suction, you probably have a clog in the system. You can remove a clog yourself using a portable vacuum cleaner or central vacuum maintenance sheets. Stubborn clogs or damage to the system require a specialized technician to repair.
