"We had a water issues in our basement for many years so I called several places to get a quote for the repair. Ron came and explained me clearly what's the issue was and offered much reasonable price for the repair than any other places. The day for the repair went smoothly. All the workers were professional and got their job done. This was done 2 years ago and I haven't see any water issues ever since. Ron is knowledgeable and easy to talk to, I would highly recommend this company to fix your water issues in a basement!"

David Wilcox is the owner and has been an integral part of the Upstate Central New York Community for over 3 decades- His personal experience of building homes gives him vast knowledge in helping homeowners permanently correct their issues with basement seepage, crawlspace encapsulation and foundation repair. "What a truly great experience working with this local family company. My husband and I knew that we needed to redo the insulation and drainage in our basement and researched local companies. We were impressed with what we heard and read about Wilcox Basement Systems so contacted them for an estimate. After a very thorough inspection of our basement and a very detailed explanation of options, we decided to schedule them to redo the insulation in our basement with the basement to beautiful system. We also had a dehumidifier and a new sump pump with drainage added. One thing I loved about them is they showed up when they said they would, on time, and put in full days to make sure the job was getting done in a timely manner. Anne kept me up-to-date by text every single day to let me know what they’d completed and what was next in the queue. All interactions I had with every member of the family who worked at my home was genuine and pleasant. Wholeheartedly recommend them!"

I am a self-taught artist, initially drawn to experiment with pastels and colored pencil, and now working with acrylic on canvas. My art speaks for itself.

"The individual who came and performed the work was courteous and performed the job properly. However, upon moving the plumbing vent which exited my roof from the attic crawl space, he inadvertently created a gap in the rubber around the vent, which would allow water to enter into the attic. He was honest about it and told me, which i appreciated and after expressing concern, he went up on the roof and put silicone in the gap. I joined him on the roof and I could see that the rubber boot had been pushed in and the gap was fairly large. Per my discussion with other professionals this was not the correct way to fix this problem and would only be a temporary solution. The weather was not great so I did not press the issue. I contacted Mr. Witte the following week and told him what happened. He told me he would "talk to his guy and see what really happened," which I found offensive. He also said he would call me back and if i didn't hear from him in a couple weeks I could "give him another call." He never called me back and I do not feel I need to hunt down someone for a response on something they did wrong. Now I have to pay someone else another $200 to come and fix the problem they created. Would not recommend."

"I added a room on to the back of my house. It require some new gutter installation plus some modified and reworked install. George came recommended from a neighbor. He answered my call promptly and drove over to my property to meet me and discuss solutions. Once we worked out a plan that he suggested he went back to his truck and wrote up a quote for service. He gave me a reasonable time range and called the day before to see if the day worked for me. Bright and early this morning he was at my house to start the project. He took down existing gutters to create room for the new gutters that would make the water flow from the other direction. He added four downspouts in strategic locations to complete this awesome professional project. He cleaned all the soffits prior to added on the new gutters. What a difference. It just poured outside so a stood on my deck and watched the water flow exactly as we discussed. Couldn't be happier, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this skilled installer to anyone who is in need of gutter work or repair. His pricing was very reasonable. I got great value added onto my home thanks to George at A&J Seamless Gutters!"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Before the widespread use of PVC, affixing a ground wire to plumbing pipes was generally considered to be an acceptable workaround. Nowadays, not so much. There are plenty of nonmetallic water pipes and fittings out there, so any ground previously provided by the metallic piping would be interrupted in these cases, which is dangerous.

Even if the shower drain doesn’t seem clogged or dirty, plan to clean it out about once per month—or more frequently if you or your family shed a lot of hair. It’s a good practice to remove any hair from the drain on a daily basis, as hair can accumulate fast and cause clogs in no time. You may also want to have a plumber thoroughly clean the drains in your home once every six months.

Yes, there are ways to fix some pool pipe leaks without digging a trench. In some cases, pool professionals use a specific polymer-based solution to travel through a pipe and plug up a leak. In other cases, they can use specialized cameras to refit the damaged area with new piping. Not only are these approaches less intrusive to your home, but they also cut down on the cost of your pool repairs overall.

Water lines are buried at various depths, depending on the type of line. For example, most sprinkler lines are buried between four and 12 inches underground. On the other hand, water mains usually sit between one and 3 feet below ground. However, they can go even deeper in cold climates to prevent freezing.

What goes up must come down, so pipes do thaw on their own, but there are some risks to taking the “wait and see” approach. As that ice thaws, water caught between the faucet, and the blockage causes increased pressure within the pipe, leading to bursting pipes and other serious types of system damage. In other words, handle frozen pipes as quickly as possible.
