Full service renovation, repair and maintenance company. We are a licensed General Contractor (Nevada B-2 Lic# 71558) with a $1.9 million bid limit. In business since 2004, licensed GC since August 2008. We have over 50 employees, and we use subcontractors where appropriate. Additional contact: Kathy House. Additional e-mail: [email protected].

"Horrible is not a bad enough word for this company! Don't EVER use them. Today is 13 months since the dryer fire took place. The downstairs condo is livable but still has many things they need to come back and fix and it's been 3 months since they've shown up. The upstairs unit is still not livable. The workmanship is EXTREMEY poor, from the paint to the grout, to the cabinet installation, granite installation, etc. They have cut corners, not installed new items per the insurance contract, etc. Their workers don't appear to have any experience at all. We were stuck with them because the HOA/Property Management company hired them. This job was only to redo the inside of two condos from the sheet rock in. It should have been a 4-month job, and it has been 12 months since they signed the contract. STEER"

Tiburon Construction is a full service General Contractor that self performs carpentry, drywall, paint, flooring and door/window installation. Our Key Personnel have over 50 years of construction experience in residential, commercial and high-rise construction for a variety of clients including local and state governments. Tiburon Construction is dedicated to serving the needs of our clients in providing cost effective solutions to meet our clients varied needs.

"Firstly, the quality of the work seems fine. I was assured this company could handle the insurance issues confronting me and this turned out badly (0 insurance payments). To be fair, I suspect there was management turmoil and an effort to expand that affected my experience. The cost greatly exceeded the first verbal estimates greatly. Work was done prior to insurance adjusters having the opportunity to see the proposed repairs. The two biggest gripes I have is a claim that they lost 160 hours of labor they paid for, and the use of unauthorized "emergency" plumbing repairs. Anything like this needs authorization prior to work being done -I think they would agree-. This additional billing was presented at escrow close (the property was sold) and wound up being more than the equity in the home (Las Vegas). It was very hard for me to follow their billing methodology. In addition, the tub surround in the master bath needed repair. When the Project Manager personally inspected the patchwork he said he did not like how it turned out. He directed the repair of the rest of the surround and said, "it would be on him". I think I ended up paying for that because it was an undocumented conversation. Cost was over 34,000"

FAQs for contractor service projects in Las Vegas, NV

Generally, general contractors charge between $50 and $150 hourly, though not every contractor charges by the hour. If charging based on the project, you can expect a markup of 10% to 20% of the construction cost. You can expect to pay between $300 and $500 daily if charged by the day.

General contractors are the ones that coordinate home construction projects. They are in charge of the day-to-day oversight of the subcontractors to ensure that the project is completed on time and to resolve problems as they arise. General contractors:

  • Complete pre-construction planning, both with the customer and crew

  • Provide realistic cost estimates

  • Develop construction timelines

  • Ensure deadlines are met

  • Acquire permits as needed

  • Purchase supplies and materials

Before hiring a general contractor for your home project, it’s a great idea to write down a list of questions to discuss with each prospect. Some example questions to get you started include:

  • Which types of insurance do you carry?

  • Can you provide a list of references?

  • What is the expected timeline for this project?

  • How will my project be supervised?

  • Will you hire subcontractors for the job?

  • What is the best way to communicate changes?

  • Will you obtain all of the required building permits?

While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Yes, most general contractors require a down payment for project completion. A reasonable down payment for a contractor is 10% to 25% of the total project cost, though that will vary based on project size and location. The down payment helps cover the upfront costs of materials and permits and helps ensure payment for the project at hand.
