"Excellent. This was my best experience EVER in Las Vegas working with a contractor and I've done many jobs over the last 20 years. I am quite picky when it comes to quality and cleanliness and CTM and Mike Stater were especially professional and far exceeded my expectations. I did not have one bit of feedback to give him. It was perfect."

"Even though we live in the desert outside of town, he arrived on time to give us an estimate. He listened carefully to what we said we needed and his quote was very reasonable for the work that needed to be done so we agreed immediately to have him do the work. He came back when he said he would and completed the job in the time frame agreed to. He was very meticulous in completing the work and the final results were excellent. We will definitely hire him the next time we need a handyman!"

"Very happy with the whole process from start to finish. I submitted the job Saturday evening, Don replied after few minutes, the next day he checked what needs to be done and the following day it's done! He promised it will be completed in one day and he and his crew did just that. Thank you!"

"This expert is enormously talented and creative. In the past, in CA I had some very painful experiences with contractors and remodelers. Tim is a wonderful professional with the highest standards and reliability. You will be delighted and pleased with his results and skills! His projects for us were very large and comprehensive. I urge you to hire him."

"They were okay. They had one guy who had experience, but he could not get the supplies from the owner of the company. So, it took longer than it should have. I went out and bought supplies for him so he could have the job done. They should supply the workers with appropriate tools. They charged us exactly what we dealt with. There were no additional fees. The price was an okay price. The gentleman that they assigned to do this job was good. He was on time every day. As part of the professionalism thing, the tile did not line up in some of the areas. I would probably use them again. I have to oversee them again. I oversaw what they were doing there and I was acting as the contractor in a construction job site again."

"They were excellent and very professional. We expected to pay more for their services but the price was actually very reasonable. They were wonderful and the owner was very nice. He came over to start the work and saw it through to the end. They were very careful about keeping the place clean. They made sure the area they worked in was well protected and covered. I would recommend them to anyone if they asked me!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

Most Cape Cod houses are two stories tall at the peak, although they’re considered one-and-a-half stories tall because the steep roof pitch cuts off a portion of the living space on the second story. Unless you raise the roof on your Cape Cod house to add a dormer, the interior rooms upstairs will lose some usable living space to the sloped ceilings.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.
