"I have a mini split hvac system that suddenly stopped cooling my air. TLC came out, put a fluorescent material in the system to detect any leak in my stem. When the tech returned to see results, he looked in 2 of the 4 cassettes, advised me both were leaking, and any replacement was not compatible the existing condenser unit outside. This procedure costs me just short of $1000. The cost to replace the entire system would be about $22,000. I called another hvac company that replaced the 2 cassettes that TLC said were leaking (no compatible issues) and the system worked fine until again no cool air! The 2nd company returned and tested (previously untested units) the final 2 units and discovered a leak in one. At my request, they replaced the last 2units. My final cost was about $14,000. TLC should have reimbursed the cost of their misdiagnosis $1000. They not only misdiagnosed the issue, but lied about the compatibility of the new cassettes"

It's easy to misidentify trees that appear to be maple trees due to similarities in leaf shapes. Sweetgum, sycamore, and yellow poplar all have leaf shapes and appearances similar to maples. Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.
