"We hired Antonio about 2 years ago. His work was fine, but he was inconsistent in his communication, and unreliable about showing up when he said he would. He also refused to out us on a regular schedule, and instructed us to just call him, but then he did not return calls. We ended up hiring another company. This morning he was doing work for a neighbor at 7:30 a.m., and blocking our shared 1-lane road. I asked if he could pull his truck over so I could pass, and he was rude and dismissive. My husband came out and Antonio (the owner) became aggressive with him and screamed â  just go around!â  (There absolutely was not room). This person is unprofessIonal, rude, and aggressive."

"The crew did a good job on tree removal and stump grinding. Almost every tree and shrub they trimmed was damaged. No limb was removed correctly. They cut to close to the trunk which weakens the tree when the limb shrinks or they left the limb to long. Bark around the limbs that were trimmed was damaged in some cases extensively. They cut two limbs on a apple tree in the middle of the limb and left all the suckers at the base of the tree untrimmed. They trimmed a shrub that had nice rounded shape flat across the top. They used chain saws without standard safety equipment such as eye and hearing protection and they were using them in a manner that made us concerned for our liability. They didn't seem to have even a basic understanding of how to trim to keep trees and shrubs well shaped and healthy. They did arrive on time."

"Robert Dupree and his staff are very professional and easy to work with. From the beginning the office staff was very helpful in setting up the appointment and always returned calls in a timely manner and always had a cheerful voice. Robert Dupree met with us and explained exactly what was going to be done, how it would affect the neighbors and if electricity would have to be turned off. They worked with PNM to clear the electrical wires. On the day of the tree removal the crew showed up, including Robert Dupree. They were all very respectful and courteous. Our 91 year old mother who the were doing the work for, had an appointment and we had to go thru the area they were working at, they made sure it was clear to walk thru and each greeted us with a smile and a hello! We were very impressed with the professionalism and most of all with the price! They removed all the tree stumps, branches, and limbs and cleaned all the work area. We would hire them again without hesitation!"

You should not trim an oak tree in the summer. Oak trees are especially susceptible to disease, and open tree wounds are an invitation for beetles that carry tree-killing fungus. If there’s no risk that the oak tree will do damage to your property or hurt someone, it’s best to save the trimming for fall or winter. If you can, seal the wound with latex to prevent fungus from getting inside.

Some signs that a tree needs to be cut down and removed include:

  • There’s visible damage to the trunk or branches.

  • The tree is leaning significantly.

  • It’s growing too close to a house, power lines, or other structures.

  • The tree has a pest infestation.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. If your tree’s leaves are yellowing, wilting, or dropping leaves, it’s likely that you’re overwatering. Other common signs include rotting, fungi, soggy soil, soft or peeling bark, falling leaves, and brittle roots. 

If you realize that you’ve been overwatering your mature tree, stop watering and give the soil time to dry out. Then moving forward, increase time between watering sessions. 

It can be difficult to determine when a tree should be cut down, but there are a few signs to look out for. Signs include a tree that’s severely leaning to one side, has extensive storm damage, or has a hollow trunk. It’s best to hire an arborist to inspect the tree to determine if it can be saved or needs to be removed.
