"This company built a French drain to move water in an area that floods. The project went well and the work was very fast and they came prepared. They also installed a path with railroad ties and gravel so that we can safely walk down the hill to our garden. Lastly, Ernie and his crew moved railroad ties to help us access our property. The price was very fair and the estimate was very accurate: No surprises! These guys care and are very honest. No BS. I would use them again."

"Andres provided exceptional service. He is the type of contractor that Angie's list seeks to provide. He made several calls to me after I purchased the coupon. I know that small contractors are sometimes overwhelmed by the response from an Angie's list coupon, so I was very impressed with his ability to come to my house so soon.I did not want to take off work so he came on a Saturday . He was right on time and very polite and personable.

I will be calling him again for any handyman needs. Thank you for putting me in touch with this quality contractor.

Aquarium Services questions, answered by experts

The average cost to pump a septic tank is around $550, though prices can range from $250 to over $1,250. The final cost depends on several factors, including the size of your tank, how full it is, and your geographic location. For example, pumping a small tank might cost between $290 and $530, while a larger 1,750-gallon tank could cost $600 or more. Prices also vary by region; for instance, costs in Minneapolis range from $175 to $275, while in Portland, they can be between $440 and $750. Regular pumping is essential to prevent waste buildup, which can lead to backups and damage to your drain field.

Before you hire a septic repair pro, make sure you get three written quotes from local companies to help you evaluate qualified candidates. Ask each company to provide proof of licensure and insurance. Finally, when you decide to hire a specific pro or company, ask for a written contract that sets out all the essential terms, including specific work expectations, a timeline, what permits are needed, who is responsible for obtaining permits, and clear payment details, including due dates.

Some companies offer concrete pumping for hard-to-reach areas at an additional cost.

Natural bacteria break down sludge in a septic tank by dissolving and consuming the solid waste. Your septic tank needs this bacteria to work correctly and avoid filling beyond capacity. You can increase the natural bacteria in your septic tank by adding three rotten tomatoes through your garbage disposal every three months.

Regular pump-outs, inspections, avoiding chemicals harming bacteria, and managing water usage are keys to sustaining peak system function.
