When we had disagreements over additional cost, Eric's behavior was decidely unprofessional. Calls to both Eric and Tanya have not been been returned. Granted, the warranty period is over, but some problems occuring during the first year were not corrected and are now being ignored.
Our initial delight with the design and planning have now turned sour. On the basis of follow-up and completion and difficulty to contact I would not recommend them. Go elsewhere
"Respectfully we take significant issue with the appraisal of our services provided. First our stone work is and has always been handled by our in house crew that specializes specifically in flagstone and moss rock. This is the same crew that has worked for us for 5 years. Phoebe knew this and her remarks to the contrary are confusing. Regrettably many of her plantings had trouble taking and had to be replaced. In her specific case plants and shrubs have a 90 day warranty provided by the nursery. Accommodations were made to replace her dead plantings, but after 6 months of replacing her dead plants and determining that shrubs were dying due to customer neglect Phoebe was understandably upset. Although we we advocate for our customers when possible final decision on warranty issues lies in the hands of the nursery."
The job took longer than planned because of several un-anticipated circumstances. The above-mentioned pond / water feature and the raised rock and concrete planting bed scheduled for demolition turned out to be built of reinforced concrete with foot-deep footers that took much longer to remove than planned. There was no extra charge for this substantial additional work. There were also weather delays due to rain, snow, wind and cold weather during the month of February. Lastly, we made several modifications to the original plan during the job which required delays while we consulted with Tanya and the Crew Foreman. All of these changes were handled seamlessly and without complaint and to our satisfaction.
All the workers were courteous, professional and were always willing to answer our questions during the course of the work. They were very willing to help with other un-scheduled tasks such as removing unwanted plants and moving large stones and boulders. They also added a pipe fitting to allow us to utilize natural gas for our outdoor grill. The work site was always left as clean as possible at the end of each day...........usually with all rubble removed as much as possible during the demolition phase.
We were very pleased with the outcome and Smart Scapes is currently drawing up plans to renovate our front yard.
"It was an absolute pleasure to work with the [member name removed]. The fire and water feature was a highlight and we look forward to a continued relationship building for our friends."
that the workers wouldn't be at my house on a certain day, or that they didn't work on Fridays. The job also took quite a bit longer than I was initially told. All in all, however, I am very pleased with the results.
My yard is beautiful, appropriate for a desert environment and uses much less water than it did previously. Once the plants and trees get
established and fill out, the yard will look even more amazing and will burst with a variety of colors throughout the year. I am planning to
have additional stone work done on my rock wall and fire pit later this year, and on the patio next year.I am very happy with the final product. I was impatient to get the work finished, and it sometimes seemed that progress was slow, but the yard looks awesome. It also seems much more inviting and usable than it did before this work was done.
"[member name removed] had a uniquely beautiful view and a need to update her yard to take advantage of vistas provided. We expanded her brick hardscape and updated her grass and plantings. [member name removed] was patient and very easy to work with and we appreciate her kind words. As with all projects, we always try to work at the fastest pace possible without ever compromising quality. As is customary with all projects contracted, we try our best to communicate time frames and what to expect in regards to timing and staging of the job site. In [member name removed]'s case she was anxious to have her new yard, but still a delight to work with."
"Respectfully this was a very unique situation in our companies work history. We had contracted with [Member Deleted] to construct a waterfall with pond, and a patio with garden wall. As with all prior and current endeavors we contract with the intent of building the design with materials and methods consistent with the standards we always build to. Immediately after signing with [Name Deleted] we were informed that he had bought all the stone and pond materials online and that he he wanted us to use his materials because he believed he had bought them at a significant discount and he endeavored to save money. We advised [Name Deleted] that the stone he had bought was not consistent with our recommended materials and that ultimately that would impact the look and potentially the stability of the build and that we did not recommend using them nor could we guarantee ultimate satisfaction. Although the end product is not consistent with our typical style we do stand behind the quality, but have learned it is best to never use materials purchased second hand and not intended specifically for the design."
"One of the tenants of our design is to accomplish a synergy between form and function. This is especially important in projects where we are attempting to get the largest amount of bang for the buck. We are very glad that we could make the Rothstein's happy and deliver something they loved for a price that provided great value."
I am looking forward to asking SmartScapes to update my front yard in the near future.
"[removed member name] will always be regarded as some of our favorite clients ever. They were not only easy to work with and creative during design and construction, they treated our crews phenomenally making constructing and working a true pleasure. We could only hope to work with more people like them."
"We sincerely appreciate the kind words from the [member name removed]. They are one of the kindest and most accommodating couples we had the pleasure to work for. We will always remember and appreciate the drinks that [member name removed ]poured for us to celebrate the completion of the project!"
