"Very prompt - they come when they are scheduled. During the estimate process the electrician suggested a better means of getting power to a new outlet using existing power sources. His estimate was more reasonable than that provided by another Home Advisor recommended electrician who didn't even bother to look on the roof where the new outlet was being installed. I will call AKA for any future electrical work."

"Mike, of Three Brothers was one of the nicest people I have ever met. Period!!!! Usually in today's world you get businesses that remember most of what they were supposed to do on your job. Mike was thorough, caring and I felt like I was the only customer. And there was an issue that arose after the initial work 3 days later which I called him for. He arrived within 20 minutes. Although the issue wasn't related to his original work, he fixed it, didn't charge me for it and was the same kind, caring person he was initially. This is the company I will call the next time I have an electrical issue!!!!"

Moving an electrical meter in your home depends on what your electric utility company allows. If you only want to move it a few inches, that may be no problem or only incur light fees. If you want to move it a significant distance, you may need to arrange a utility inspection and get permission, or your utility company may prevent it altogether.

If half of a string of Christmas lights is out, it is likely because of a single burned-out, loose, or broken bulb within that section. Long strands of lights often contain more than one circuit, so when one bulb fails, it can cause the entire circuit (or half the strand) to go dark. To fix this, inspect the unlit section and test each bulb to ensure it is tight and functioning properly. Replacing the faulty bulb or repairing a damaged shunt will typically solve the problem.

The common, marked as COM or C, is one of the terminals found in your light switch. It houses the live wire that supplies the input voltage. The other terminals, marked as L1 or L2, are the outputs to the light fixtures. Depending on if you have a one-way or two-way switch, you’ll either have just an L1 terminal or both an L1 and L2 terminal.

Yes, electric-start snow blowers need to be plugged in to start, but you can unplug them and go once they’re up and running. Simply plug the snow blower into an outdoor outlet and press the start button. Once it starts, you can unplug it and use it freely. The idea for these types of snow blowers is to simplify the starting process from the typical pull-string starts.

Homeowners should avoid replacing a circuit breaker without turning it off. While you technically can replace a circuit breaker without turning off the main breaker—and professionals can and do—it’s only safe for electricians to use this process. Working with a live panel is extremely dangerous if you don’t have experience working with electricity. Always follow safety measures to avoid electrical shock.
