"Oscar from Edward’s Appliance notices me ahead of time to let me know he was on his way and approx how long before he would be at my home. He was professional, courteous, and it was a pleasure talking with him as he repaired my dryer. I would hire this company for future items if needed. He explained in detail what was wrong with my dryer, how he came to that diagnosis and the breakdown of parts and labor."

"Called before heading over, did an excellent job installing our drawer pulls in our kitchen, cleaned up after themselves and charged a fair price for the work. Will be using them again for other projects."

"The crew that worked on this remodel, led by Alejandro, were prompt in arriving, patient with our questions, and very responsive to our requests. They were very skilled and thorough, and completely changed our home for the better. I highly recommend this company, since it provides full services, such that plumbing and electrical are available from within the organization, as opposed to waiting for subcontractors to respond."

"Albuquerque Plumbing was prompt, fully described recommended system, was fully responsive to our desires regarding electrical wiring and drainage locations. Crew arrived on promised date and installation went smoothly. Slight glitch regarding mistakenly not completely turning tankless water heater back on was immediately addressed by installation crew when notified. System functioning as advertised. Very pleased with Humidifier. Hope to have successful relationship with Albuquerque Plumbing in future."

"We wanted to redo the tub and shower installation. The company representative showed us a wide range of materials and and roughed out a design based on what we indicated we wanted. He gave us the price for what we wanted and told us we would be notified when the materials came in so we could schedule the start of the project. The project required removing the old tub and relocating the plumbing and shower head to a different wall. They protected all the exposed areas from dust and once they started, it only took about one week to complete the job. They cleaned after themselves everyday after their work, and upon completion of the project. They do excellent work and the new shower enclosure looks great! I would recommend them to anyone doing a bathroom makeover."
The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.
Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
There are several questions or things to know before hiring a handyman to do any work in your home.
What kind of work do they do?
Do they have proper licensing?
Do they charge for estimates?
Is the estimate for both labor and materials?
Do they provide references?
Do you provide a guarantee?
When can you start and finish the job?
Do you have any before and after photos of your work?
How long have you been doing this kind of work?
Do you clean up and dispose of waste when the job is finished?
Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
