"Our neighbors tree was growing over our yard, and causing a real mess. Montoya Land Scaping came out and trimmed it and did a beautiful job and cleaned up after themselves. Leroy also sprayed the tree to keep bugs from getting in it after trimming it. Leroy Montoya was extremely kind and very professional. Any yardwork I need need done in the future. You can trim just one side of the tree, especially when that side is growing near something like a power line or a home. Pros will carefully trim the tree back until it is safe from that structure. While this is common, it also needs to be done with the utmost care, as pruning or trimming away at one side of the tree may make it structurally unsound. This instance is yet another where hiring a pro is wise, especially if power lines are involved.

A serrated knife will work for cutting off small palm tree fronds, about 1 inch in diameter. For larger fronds, you will need pruning shears. You may also use a pruning saw, and if your palm tree is especially tall, an extended pole saw can help you reach the brown fronds around the trunk.
