"Irvin is professional. His quote was quick with questions answered and specific notes taken for service. Irvin and his staff showed up on time. Started immediately. It was amazing to see them tackle our trees. Both our trees were up against our fence and an outdoor fireplace. No damage was done. They left the yard clean."

"Very good, and very pleased. Cut a number of large trees on 1 acre lot on sloped terrain, trimmed limbs from other trees. Cleaned up very well. Was able to provide quote at end of week, and completed job early next week. They have all the equipment and crew needed, made sure any follow-up work was taken care of. Recommend."

"I hired Calos' company (I Do Care Landscaping) To remove a large bush that was too near to the pool. He responded quickly and showed up the next day. He removed the bush in short order. While he was there I mentioned some over grown weeds and even though the task was not on his schedule he gave an estimate, which I regarded too low an so I did not expect too good a job. He brought in reinforcements and within three hours they pulled all weeds by hand, including the roots, without damaging any plant I wanted kept. I was embarrassed to pay his price so I added an additional amount. The following day a workman came to open the pool and as soon as he got through the gate, he kept saying "this is nice". He finished his work and said he would be back the following week to clean the pool a second time to be worthy of the surroundings. Carlos is going to be my go to guy. Thank you Angi."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

Aim to have your trees inspected and pruned in early spring. At this point in the year, tree service professionals can note where there is old growth from winter and cut that back to encourage new growth for the rest of the year. Pruning at the wrong time of the year could make your trees prone to diseases.

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.

State and local laws vary, but in most cases, you are allowed to trim any branches from your neighbor's tree that cross your property line. However, it's important to ensure you do not damage the overall health of the tree in the process. Removing branches incorrectly can jeopardize the health of the tree and could lead to you being on the hook to replace it.

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.
