"Roofing USA were very professional throughout. They were punctual, although the work got done a few weeks later than planned but such delays happen in this industry. They seem to have done a good job with the Gaco coating, although I did have to ask them to come back after they were done to redo a few patches that didn't get a thick enough layer. They were happy to do that. They only had to resurface part of my roof - the rest is a walkable roof deck - and they did leave many spots of Gaco on the roof deck which I had to ask them to come back and remove. I though the price was expensive but it was easily going to work out cheaper than the other two companies I contacted. They also had the least disruptive plan for working around my AC/heating unit. I got a higher bid from A+ Sustainable Coatings, and Hollywood Roofing told me I would have to hire a crane to lift that unit off the roof while they worked, which they said would be about $2500. I never did get a complete bid from them but with that extra cost I assumed it wouldn't be competitive, and I didn't think the crane was necessary. With Roofing USA, the price worked out at about $7 per square foot."

"I can only comment on our initial meeting. Tysan showed up on time and was courteous, respectful, and attentive. From our previous phone call, the objective was to evaluate the entrance gate and driveway. Like many homeowners, I think I walked the property and showed Mr. Westplans for mechanical rrooms bathroom additions , a huge roofing project, new proposed plumbing, 2 new fireplaces, and a 100 foot long shed on the other part of the property. So, while Tysan and South Mountain Industrial Services showed up to estimate a "whole bunch of apples," I rambled on for several hours about "a whole bunch of oranges." Tysan remained very patient and attentive and after the initial consultation, sent me a detailed proposal to start with a days work, maybe two of clearing huge boulders and the removal of dozens of trees and stumps. Personally, I have used a Bobcat and a backhoe, however, the work done recently on my property would have taken at least a week. Mr. West can thread the eye of a needle with this heavy equipment that is needed for my big project. Definitely, I want Mr. West involved with the future project regardless of the capacity. Tysan West is a General Contractor, and I look forward to the tentative GO that we agreed upon verbally to begin the permit, pad and metal bldg. at the end of May, beginning of June. Tysans punctuality, courteousness, and detailed estimates on Proposal is Professional at least, unlike most of the prima-donna Santa Fe contractors I have encountered the last 15 years, which is at best. By the way...that whole morning spent consulting and reviewing the work and somewhat layout, was with no pressure and with no charge."

Be cautious if a contractor in Albuquerque offers a quote that omits details about asbestos testing, air monitoring, or proper waste disposal. Promises to start immediately without mentioning permits or containment steps are concerning. Reliable professionals provide written contracts, outline each phase of asbestos abatement, and supply local references. Avoid anyone who downplays the importance of safety measures or skips steps due to the region’s dry climate.

In Albuquerque, asbestos removal is performed year-round, but spring and fall are preferred due to comfortable temperatures that make setting up containment barriers and maintaining safe air quality easier. During summer, high heat can complicate the process, especially since HVAC systems are turned off. Winter’s low humidity helps with dust control, but contractors may have more flexible schedules for indoor asbestos abatement projects.

Helpful?

If your Albuquerque home was built before 1980 and features popcorn ceilings, 9x9-inch floor tiles, or older stucco, it may contain asbestos. Homes with visible damage to insulation or wallboard, or those undergoing major renovations, should have asbestos testing done. Even adobe-style homes can hide asbestos in joint compounds or pipe wraps, so professional assessment is key before starting any demolition or remodeling.

Helpful?

In Albuquerque, homeowners often try DIY asbestos removal or hire contractors without proper asbestos abatement certification. Skipping air quality monitoring and failing to seal off work areas are frequent errors, especially given the city’s windy conditions. Not informing neighbors or coordinating with HOAs can cause disputes, particularly in planned communities. Always use certified professionals and ensure all safety protocols are followed throughout the process.
