"It went great as usual. The masonary/stucco wall looks like it was built with the house 25 years ago. Perfect style, texture and color match. Ordonez Construction has done several other projects at my home including a bridge over my arroyo, a Pergola for garden beds, a chicken coop, beautiful sandstone stairs leading to my arroyo and a glass greenhouse. I would use Carlos/Ordonez construction for any projects I may have in the future. The prices are very fair and the work is top notch. Courtney Conte, Placitas, NM."

Landscaping company est.2019 We can help improve your home value! -call today for an estimate -coming to a neighborhood near you -SE HABLA ESPAÑOL!

"This company doesn’t even deserve one star! On May 27, 2022 I contracted with Jared Hererra, owner of Lone Wolfscapes LLC, to do specific masonry work at my residence. The work included raising my east wall from 4 feet to 6 feet, and raising my front courtyard pilasters from 4 feet to 6 feet, which also included replacing the existing 4 foot privacy gates with new 6 foot privacy gates, as well as stucco and paint on the front pilasters. I asked Mr. Herrera for photos of his work and recommendations and all came back acceptable. I paid an initial deposit of $200 on that day to secure the job. On June 12, 2022 I scheduled the work with Jared and he stated that he and his team would be at my home to begin the work on June 14, 2022, and that the work would be completed no later that June 17, 2022. On June 15, 2022, Mr. Herrera requested an additional $700 even though the work was not even halfway complete. He also began workin on removing the top stucco on one of the front pilasters which he negligently destroyed. On June 19, 2022, I expressed concern to Mr. Herrera because the wall was only approximately 60% complete, and he had not made any progress on the front courtyard pilasters or gate replacement. I informed him that I had trees scheduled to be planted on June 22, 2022 in the area where the pilasters are located and I asked him if the work would be complete by then. He assured me that he would be finished by then and proceeded to request an additional $550 for supplies and labor. I did not hear from Mr. Herrera again until Thursday, June 24, 2022 despite numerous calls and text messages asking him where he was and whether was planning on completing the work. Mr. Herrera finally replied to me and stated he would be back the following morning at 9am to resume the work. However, he failed to provide a reason or explanation as to why he had not been in touch or why his work was delayed. Mr. Herrera arrived at my house at approximately 3pm the following day, almost 6 hours after the time he stated he would be here. He worked on the wall for approximately an hour and a half, then left without reason or notification. On that day I made the decision to fire him and his crew and request a refund for the work that was left unfinished. Since then, Mr. Herrera has ignored my calls, failed to responded to my text messages requesting status and refund, and I am now left with sloppy, incomplete masonry work on my east wall, as well as a destroyed pilaster in my front yard. On June 28, 2022 I met with another company to get an estimate on completing the work. The individual advised that the initial work done by Mr. Herrera was sloppy, amateurish, and that he would not only need to complete the work left unfinished by Mr. Herrera, but that he would need to repair the initial work because it was done so poorly. I paid $1,450 to Mr. Herrera. I now have to spend an additional $2000 complete Mr. Hererra’s unfinished work, and to repair his negligent destruction of my property. Jared Herrera of Lone Wolfscapes LLC is extremely incompetent, unprofessional, unresponsive, unreliable, and unskilled. I absolutely do not recommend his services, and he has no business providing services in the masonry industry. He will stop communicating with you, not provide any explanation regarding the reason for delays, he will not reply to text messages or return calls, and he will literally abandon the work once you confront him about his behavior. Not only am I left with unfinished work and property damage, I am also left with his equipment that he abandoned on my property, and a huge tarp full of gravel that he never cleaned up. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I also intend to file a civil action in court for the property damage. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HIRE THIS INCOMPETENT CRIMINAL!!!!"

Yes, you should confirm that the fencing installer you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. In most cases they do not need a specific fencing license, but rather a general contractor’s license. Hiring a licensed contractor protects you as a homeowner from fraud, poor work, and potential legal woes.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost to install a fence is between $1,760 and $4,500. These costs are what an average homeowner spends, but you might spend more or less depending on several factors. For a smaller DIY project, you might get away with spending as little as $430, or for a much larger project (like fencing for a 5-acre yard), you can spend in excess of $43,000.

Besides the size of your yard, other factors like your fence material, fence height, site prep, and additional fence features like gates all impact the overall cost. Additionally, the high cost of raw materials and manufacturing can all make the overall price tag higher.

Before you hire a fence installer to build you the fence of your dreams for your yard, it’s important to set expectations up front by asking questions. Some questions to consider include:

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • Do you offer financing or a payment plan?

  • Do you have references?

  • Do you have photos of previous work?

  • What type of fencing materials do you work with?

Do you have references?

Are all fasteners exterior (galvanized)?

How deep are you concreting the post?

What is the lowest maintenance fencing?

How will you deal with slopes?

Only some fences require a permit to build. Factors like where you live, how tall your fence will be, and where in your yard you plan to build all impact the need to have a permit. Below are a few examples of when a permit is needed; it’s always best to check with your fence installer to confirm if a permit is required.

Generally, if you live somewhere rural, like on a farm, there’s a good chance you will not need a fence permit. However, you will most likely need a permit if you live in a highly populated area. In addition, many privacy fences in your backyard won’t need a permit if it is 6 feet or shorter. However, you might need a permit for anything over 3.5 feet in your front yard.

Any solid panels over 8 feet in height will require a permit, while a 2-foot lattice top on a 6-foot fence does not require a permit.

Fence installers typically charge by the hour when working on a project. Typically, you can expect to pay around $50 per hour for fence installation. Your project might take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the length of your fence, overall project complexity, and fence type.
