"PJ, the electrician, came over within an hour for an emergency service visit (on a Sunday). I received a call from their office and Linda, the woman I spoke to, verified the details of the issue I was having and gave me the price for the service before PJ came over. PJ was very efficient and explained everything he did in detail. He was very pleasant and understanding. It was nearly 100 degrees outside and it reached 88 degrees in my house. So PJ is a life saver! He was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs electrical work done."

"I setup 4 estimates for this project, Nick was by far the best at fully explaining what needed to be done to correct the problems at my Daughters new home, and was within the price point of the others..This major repair was scheduled within less that a week, Nick & Anthony arrived at 8:30, setup temporary electric, replaced the overloaded 100AMP Aluminum Wired Panel with a 200AMP panel in the garage & a 60AMP Sub-panel in the basement..They were finished by 2:30pm, and even repaired exterior conduit on the Solar system..These Electricians were Outstanding."

"The owner Scott is very easy to work with , no pressure sales , which is refreshing in the world today . His office manager ( who happens to be his wife) Patty is equally as nice , they reply to calls very quickly and she herself is surprisingly very knowledgeable about all things construction. They handled everything from permits to scheduling the inspections . The job was done quickly and correctly . I highly recommend Scott s Electrical Service . THANKS FOR A GREAT JOB AT A FAIR PRICE ."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It wouldn’t be abnormal to view all wiring as simply wiring, but wiring has different gauges and can handle different loads. When you’re wiring for 240V, you need wire that is rated at least 240V, but honestly it’s better to spend a little more and just buy 300V wiring. This ensures a margin of safety in case the wiring gets overloaded.

If you find the power cables for your appliances are too short, there are ways to extend them for the cost of just the extra wiring you need. Simply cut and strip your wires, solder them together, and cover them using heat shrink tubing. Not everyone has a soldering tool on hand, so if you’re looking to extend in a pinch, an extension cord, power bar, or surge protector can do the job just fine.

A gas stove doesn't always need a dedicated circuit. Unlike an electric range, which uses 240 volts and requires a 240-volt receptacle, a gas stove only uses 120 volts. In some cases, your electrician will need to replace the existing two-pole circuit breaker with a single-pole circuit breaker as well as swap out the existing 240-volt receptacle with a 120-volt replacement.

Typically, when a 3-way switch only works when one switch is on, this is one of the most telltale indicators that the switch has gone bad (although this could also be the result of faulty or loose wiring). To diagnose the issue, toggle each switch until the light comes on. Once it’s on, toggle each switch separately again; the switch that doesn’t turn the light off is the bad switch.

The size of the microwave you choose may change this answer, but for standard over-the-range microwaves, 120 volts and a three-prong grounded outlet is needed for your device.
