"MNM Group came in and did an absolutely fantastic job replacing 70 year old drywall in our kitchen. They were able to make the old walls which have studs which have bowed over the years perfectly smooth. Great mudding, hanging and edging around an old house. Biggest plus is they're up front with you on the estimates, great communications, respond to texts fast and arrive within minutes of when they say they will."

"I’ve been in my house for 28 years and had a lot of work done. Mike is by far the best. He installed a new ceiling in my Sons room and it’s flawless. He gave me a fair price, did it on time, and the room was spotless when he was finished. We have about 4 more projects ahead of us and Mike will be doing all of them. Looking forward to it."

"I am very particular about the contractors who I bring into my home so consequently I do my due diligence when researching potential partners on our home repair projects. I spoke with David Travers multiple times with regard to the drywall repair needed in both my kitchen and basement. I found him to be knowledgeable, polite and professional. Victor, did our drywall repair and he did an excellent job. I appreciated how meticulous he was throughout the project but especially his attention to cleaning up afterwards. I would definitely recommend The Patch Boys of Central Jersey."

"I met Jeff and milliy 2 years ago from a search online.they painted my kitchen and cabinets and did a wonderful job.hired them this year to paint and plaster rest of house. This was a tough job because it's an old house, solid walls, and a lot of repair work.they again did a beautiful job.the plastering and painting was done so well it looks like there was damage to begin with. I recommend them highly because they are professional, very hardworking and perfectionists.they clean up after they're done and show up when they say they will.i couldn't be happier with their work."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The short answer is yes, a sagging plaster ceiling is dangerous. Sagging plaster on a wall is something you should fix immediately, but it isn’t a major concern. If the same type of sagging occurs on a ceiling, however, you could be in danger of your ceiling falling in large chunks. When plaster sags, it loses its strength and ability to hold itself up. The bonds that hold it together are strong, though, so if a sagging area falls, it will take large pieces down with it.

Water-damaged drywall should almost always be replaced. Not only does it look bad, it’s a breeding ground for toxic mold. Even if you think the area is dry and there’s no active leak, the only way to be sure is to cut out the damaged area and see for yourself.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.
