"We had luxury remove an ancient cast iron tub, demo & redo shower walls- install glass on 2 sides! They were EXCELLENT- from start to finish. All the employees are very skilled, professional & caring. The bathroom came out perfect!!! I smile everytime I go in the room! They truly want their customers to be happy. I thought their prices were higher than others but their work & products are truly luxury & worth it! Best construction project we've ever had done & we've owned the house 45 years!"

"Poor experience and would recommend you go with a more professional company. A few minor issues that leads to a bad experience. 1) Cash/check only company. Not a huge deal, but definitely a negative. 2) They left everything covered when complete and don't return the next day to clean up/remove the garbage. (See pictures) 3) They removed the shower doors and don't put them back on. (See pictures). They refuse to send anyone back to put the doors back on because they "aren't trained to do that". If that's the case then why did they remove the doors in the 1st place? Communicate with your customer before you do something like that, not after? In my opinion, the job was only half done. Sub-par business with sub-par management."

"Since this is an old blue bathtub the color was tricky to match, but he did. All of the chips were repaired, including removal of some rust. He explained what was to be done, and the receipt was clearly itemized. Explained to not use for 24 hours, and should never use abrasive cleansers, and that I should call him if I have any trouble with the repair. He was polite and cleaned up afterwards."

"Don’t believe their “done in one day” slick marketing hype. We were promised that for our small shower stall replacement. It’s been a month since they started work and it’s still not done. No ceiling trim. No shower doors. Don’t expect them to follow your instructions on placement of shelves or grab bars either. Apparently cleaning up their mess also isn’t a priority. I’ll update this review in two more weeks if things are finally done but I’m not holding my breath. Not only would I never use them again, but I’ll no longer shop at their parent company Home Depot."

While they’re heavier than their counterparts, cast-iron tubs are very simple to maintain. They have no seams and are durable, making them the easiest tub to maintain. While fiberglass and acrylic tubs are also relatively simple to maintain, they often have seams, making maintenance a little more difficult.

As with any project, refinishing your bathtub presents pros and cons to consider, such as:

Pros

  • The job is typically quick, and your tub is ready within 48 hours.

  • Your bathtub looks new.

  • You don’t need to tear out the old tub and replace it with a new one.

  • You can customize it with the color of your choice.

  • You can’t tell the bathtub has been refinished.

Cons

  • Refinished bathtubs can be slippery.

  • Not all refinishing products are created equal.

  • You need to wait up to 48 hours before using the bathtub.

Acrylic bathtubs can last up to 30 years without major issues if they receive the right care and maintenance. They can last even longer but might scratch or stain as they age. The expected longevity is a major factor when investing in a new tub. Cast-iron tubs are the longest-lasting option.

There are a few ways to check whether your tub is fiberglass or acrylic. If your tub is a color other than white, then your tub is likely acrylic (as fiberglass tubs are usually white). Check to see if there is discoloration on the bottom of the tub, because if it’s yellowed, then you can be fairly sure it’s fiberglass.

Also, fiberglass tubs have thinner edges and are cool to the touch. Acrylic, on the other hand, is either room temperature or warm to the touch.

It is best to wear a respirator during the sanding, painting, and sealing process. It can filter particles, vapors, and fumes that can be toxic to breathe. So it’s better to be safe and protect your lungs during this project.
