"I cannot say enough good about this family owned business. Supporting local businesses is easy when they are honest, reliable, friendly, and great to work with. The work they produce is superior. They were meticulous, and left my property in better shape than they found it. I highly recommend their tree services. Chuck and Dave were a pleasure to work with and their team were respectful, friendly and hard-working. Top-notch company. Bobby in that bucket truck with chainsaw in hand is fearless. I nicknamed him superman. Thank you DB Paulson for a great experience. See you again at tree trimming time."

"Trevor and his crew showed up at exactly the time they said they would arrive to start the work. They asked where I would like the wood stacked before starting the job and asked if I had any special requirements before they began. They stacked the logs perfectly and professionally in the spot I designated for them before they began. They cleaned up all the little pieces of wood from my yard and driveway before leaving the job. They were very polite and courteous throughout the whole process. Trevor even asked me if I wanted some logs he found under my hedges cut up side he noticed them while cleaning up - I totally forgot about the logs and greatly appreciated the fact he noticed them and asked to split them before leaving. I would highly recommend Trevor and his crew from Lucky Strike Log Splitting for any and all log splitting jobs. I already inform informed them I would be hiring them in October after I cut down the 2nd of 3 trees I have in my front yard."

"They showed up on time and got straight to work. I had a fence, a dozen bushes and a large garden with a tree removed. Everything was done quickly and they cleaned up nicely. I would definitely use them again and have already told one guy about them the same day!"

"Great, on time, very fast and thorough, workmen were very nice and helpful. I had the lawn scrap bags all ready for them, they halved my hostas for me, left what I asked them to leave. John was very professional. Asked him for a quote for another project."

"He gave me a free estimate beforehand, and the price was perfect. The garden was such a mess before he came and made it all new. He replaced the mulch, got me new flowers, mowed the lawn, and picked up trash around my property. With the tree removal, he cut down the whole tree and took all of the pieces away. He did an amazing job, would hire again"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Leaf removal costs between $400 and $1,000 per acre on average. Nationally, the cost of leaf removal averages about $350. Cost factors for this project include lawn size, leaf removal method, tree density, location, and the time required to do the job. If your lawn removal service charges based on lawn size, you can expect to pay $0.02 to $0.10 per square foot.

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

You can remove a small tree from your yard if there’s space for the tree to fall, you have the right tools and safety equipment, and you follow a clear plan of action. You’ll just want to follow the steps above carefully, and ideally, you will have experience doing similar tasks. If you have any doubts that you can do this project safely, though, you should hire a pro.

You may wonder whether tree removal is tax deductible: Tree removal is not tax-deductible for homeowners unless it's related to a federally declared disaster. In that case, the cost may qualify as a casualty loss. However, if you own a commercial property, like a rental home, tree removal could be deductible if it's necessary for safety, maintenance, or part of a larger capital improvement project, and you must hire a professional tree removal service and keep documentation. Always consult a tax professional beforehand to see if you qualify.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.
