I wrote a well-deserved A review of Lucky Strike in Dec 2015 based on two workdays spent splitting wood from several felled trees. I wanted to hire them again in the fall of 2016, and Trevor had me penciled in. We had to reschedule for the spring of 2017--but response on his part became sporadic. Trevor's last message apologized for the delay in responding (over a month) and said that he had been away and that the 'takeover crew was nowhere to be found'. Repeated attempts to contact him have gone unanswered. I have started to clean up the mess from the felled trees myself. Apparently they have given up the business. The luckystrikelogsplitting.com domain has expired. Bottom line: inconsistent, to say the least. The 'simple courtesy of a reply' would have been very helpful and greatly appreciated.

They didn't contact me back for two weeks. When they did contact me back, they asked me for more information because they didn't have any information on me. I sent them pictures and all my information and still no response. I will not be using this company.

Trevor and Jeff were extremely efficient and hard workers. One of the log splitters malfunctioned on the first day, and they still completed as much as they could on the first day, and completed the job on the second day, no extra travel fee etc... Everything was left perfect and I didn't have to do a thing. I would definitely hire them again in the future if we take down more trees.

Response from Lucky Strike Log Splitting

"We apologize for not getting back to you in a timely manner. Somehow your correspondence got lost in the Fall Frenzy. Let us know if you're still in need of splitting services. We'd be happy to work it out."

They refuse to take my calls. I opened a complaint with Angie's List and I believe I got an e-mail earlier today that I haven't been able to reply back to. I called Lucky Strike and contacted them in May. They said, sure, they would like to do the work, they scheduled me in June. A day before, I had still not gotten a confirmation that they were coming the following day, so I called them. They canceled on me and said they would be back in touch. That was in June and that was the last I heard from them. I tried contacting them several times and then I filed a complaint with Angie's List and someone on Angie's List's end both called them and sent an e-mail for them to get back in touch with me. That was a month ago and I still haven't heard back from them. So now I'm out $80 because of that deal and I'm not a happy camper. I just want my money back. I'm told I can get another service. The worst part is, I've used this company before. I thought they were great. I used them about 15 years ago, I think twice even. I lost their contact information, so I went on Angie's List. I'm like, "Okay, great, here they are," and they're like, "Oh thanks, repeat customer." They seemed thrilled about it, but they didn't. For now, I'm going to be forced to buy a service from Angie's List, just to get my $80 back, which I'm not very happy with. I still can't get the work done, I haven't been able to find anybody to do the work. They seemed friendly initially and I had used them in the past and I would have highly recommended them as well, but for whatever reason they seem to have gone off the face of the earth. They never responded back to me. I just felt they were very rude and did not return any of my contacts. I don't know why they're not contacting me. They should have some customer service. What stood out the most about the company is the lack of communication. I guess they're just so busy that they don't need my work. I was not given a quote.

I have been looking for someone to do this kind of work for a while since it doesn't make sense for me to own and maintain my own log splitter and manual splitting is not feasible.  I burn wood, and have large trees taken down from time to time (as do many of my neighbors). It makes no sense to pay to have felled trees hauled away, and then to buy firewood.
I emailed Trevor with pics and a volume estimate of the wood I needed processed. He responded promptly with an estimate, his conditions, and a date. I accepted, and, without further ado, Trevor and assistant showed up at the agreed upon time. He quickly understood what I needed done and proceeded with the work efficiently, without any need for further discussion or direction. I was able to completely concentrate on some other work that I had to do.
A second work day (completed last week) went equally smoothly. A good plan, well-executed, at a fair price is how I summarized it.
As small, smart, local, niche businesses like this one succeed, we will begin to reclaim an economy that works for all of us, IMO.

I sent an e-mail requesting an estimate and I received a quick reply from Trevor.   I agreed to the rate and we scheduled a service date.   He contacted me to confirm the appointment.   He called before they arrived and split and stacked one large pile beautifully.   The pieces are consistent size and will be easy to light.   I would provide a picture but this site doesn't have that option.  During the first day of work I received a call saying that the second pile wasn't accessible due to the overgrown brush (which was taller than I expected) and they provided a very fair price to clear the brush and split the second large pile.   They did just as good a job on the second pile - and I'm absolutely satisfied with the whole service.  I won't need wood for several years, but I hope to use Lucky Strike again.

Trevor and his crew showed up at exactly the time they said they would arrive to start the work. They asked where I would like the wood stacked before starting the job and asked if I had any special requirements before they began. They stacked the logs perfectly and professionally in the spot I designated for them before they began. They cleaned up all the little pieces of wood from my yard and driveway before leaving the job. They were very polite and courteous throughout the whole process. Trevor even asked me if I wanted some logs he found under my hedges cut up side he noticed them while cleaning up - I totally forgot about the logs and greatly appreciated the fact he noticed them and asked to split them before leaving. I would highly recommend Trevor and his crew from Lucky Strike Log Splitting for any and all log splitting jobs. I already inform informed them I would be hiring them in October after I cut down the 2nd of 3 trees I have in my front yard.

Trevor and Jeff did a great job especially considering the snow on the ground and frozen logs.  They arrived on time and split the wood into manageable sizes and stacked it neatly.  I highly recommend thier services.

Working with Trevor Shaw and Lucky Strike was a first class experience from the get go. Communication was excellent and Trevor was able to give me an estimate based on the photo of my log pile that I emailed to him. We settled on a date and as it got closer the weather forecast was for rain. I contacted Trevor to see if he wanted to reschedule but he promptly replied that he would be there as planned at 9:00 am. He was on time and after politely introducing himself and asking a few pertinent questions about my preferences for the firewood size and stacking location he and his associate went to work. It was a miserable day but they worked quickly and efficiently, finishing up a very large job in just over three and a half hours. The split wood was neatly stacked and the work area was spotless. Trevor even fixed one of my downspouts that he noticed was sending the rain toward my foundation. The job came in under estimate, which was the cherry on the cake. I highly recommend Lucky Strike and would hire them again myself without hesitation.

There had been no confirmation call, so I called them on the morning service was scheduled.  They returned the call promptly, and apologized for the confirmation oversight.  Arrived on time.  They also helped me plan and set up platforms to store the stacked wood.   They raked up the waste from the splitting, and, at my request, put it in recycle bags I provided.  The areas they worked in were left clean and neat, as were the firewood stacks.
