"Sami came by when promised, gave a quote better than I expected, showed up on the date promised and the time promised! The whole project of 3 tree removals took less time than anticipated and they clean up very nicely. If needed, will definitely use again. I am impressed which hasn't happened with me in a long time. Thank you Sami's Tree Service."

"The workmen showed up on time, were friendly, and did a great job removing my trees and cleaning up. Their fee was a very good price. I would recommend them and will use them again for other landscaping projects."

"I am very satisfied with RG tree service's professional and responsible work style, including the cleanup after tree felling. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends. The wood chips were originally supposed to be left for us, but because of the poison ivy contamination, Raul promised to specially deliver them next time. Looking forward to it.. Thanks again RG!"

Customers say: True professional

"This is a great team. Good references and the owner came out to give me a quote. They were the least cost bid to take down 6 Ash trees and their work was flawless. A nice crew, affable, hard working and all in safety gear. They ground stumps, chopped up and removed all the wood I did not want to keep. We included some trimming and mulching which left the yard in top notch condition. I would do business with them again and highly recommend this company."

"We hired Sage landscaping to create a new backyard that involved clearing trees, regrading, and installing a retaining wall. From start to finish, I couldn't have been more pleased with the work and the end result. Ed Sage provided some very good advice in the design phase that really helped the project immensely in the end. The whole team that worked on the project was impressive and demonstrated a strong work ethic, competence, and a desire to do things the right way. No supervision needed, which is rare. I could completely trust the team. There were no slackers on the team and no one cutting corners. The whole team brought a "can-do" attitude which was a pleasure to deal with when changes were required from original project scope. They strived throughout to ensure that I was happy with the work. While Sage wasn't the cheapest upfront, I believe they were the best value given the quality of work delivered. I will certainly be using Ed and his team going forward for all my landscaping needs."

"I hired Central Jersey Tree Services to remove a tree from my backyard that had significant rot. Andrey was friendly, professional and gave me an excellent quote for this service. He was patient as I collected estimates from other companies and was able to schedule the job with the help of Michelle (who was lovely to communicate win) within days of my making a decision. His team arrived a bit early on the day of and took care of the job in about an hour. They were quick, clean and safe and impressive to watch at work. They even left us some firewood for our fire pit which should get us through the season. I highly recommend their services to anyone in the area needing tree work!"

"Samuel of QualityLawn removed 5 fallen trees from my property. He and his crew were diligent, hardworking and professional. During the estimate process, I expressed concern about his truck damaging my asphalt driveway. He took note and on the day of the job he left the truck on the street and used manual labor and small machinery to lug everything back to the street. He probably saved me thousands of dollars from avoiding asphalt damage. Beyond this, during execution of the job, Samuel was easy to work with and answered all my questions to insure everything was done to my satisfaction. He and his crew cleaned up everything and left the property immaculate. I would never hire anyone else but him for tree work. I wish he was closer to me because I would have hired him as my landscaper also!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Horticulturist is a broad term for any type of plant and soil expert. An arborist, meanwhile, specializes in all aspects of tree care. You should hire an arborist when you need assistance with tree-related tasks, such as pruning large trees, removing trees, diagnosing a sick tree, or emergency tree services. Horticulturists aren’t qualified to handle those types of tasks.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

A tree growing close to a house can pose several risks, but removal isn't always the only or best solution. Potential problems include roots growing into the foundation and causing structural cracks, branches damaging the roof or promoting moss growth, and debris clogging gutters, which can lead to water damage. Trees can also provide access for pests and encourage mold. However, a small, healthy tree may not be a problem, and for larger, established trees, strategic trimming can be a cheaper and more beneficial alternative to removal. It is generally recommended to take action for trees within 10 to 20 feet of your home, especially if they are unhealthy or encroaching. Your best bet is to consult a professional arborist who can assess the specific situation and provide expert advice.

White vinegar does not kill ivy on trees because its acetic acid concentration is not high enough to overpower it. Vinegar is an effective herbicide for weeds and other plants, but not for the strength of most ivies, including poison ivy and English ivy. You should use an herbicide to kill ivy, such as one with glyphosate, imazapyr, or triclopyr.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.
