"This job could not have gone any better! After requesting a few quotes via Angie's list, Richard got back to me within 24 hours to inquire about the job. Turns out he was doing a few driveways in my development the next day and said he would stop by and have a look at my driveway. After a brief chat about options for the driveway, he gave me the price (very reasonable) and said he would be back later in the morning to perform the work. Richard and his team showed up as scheduled, sealed the driveway (looks awesome) and they were on their way! This may have been the most economical, highest quality, lowest stress work I have ever had on our house! Highest rating for all aspects of the service for sure."

"Ryan is great young hardworking guy, he understands the requirement and made a nice pavers patio and asphalt driveway, we liked it. He has completed big project on time. The driveway could be little better but overall good job. He has promised 5 years warranty plus helping out with sealing the driveway next year as courtesy."

"- Ed Sage provided estimate the Tues after the Irene tropical storm weekend. We had made the appointment 2 wks prior and as busy as they were he still kept the appointment. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided recommendation not to do some things I was looking at that made perfect sense...although he could have just included in the estimate and provided me now advice. At the time he said it would be 1-2 wks before they could schedule the job due to large amount work in their queue
- While at my house I asked numerous additional questions and recommendations concerning some lawn overseeding and sod work. Ed answered all my questions and provided me the steps to take if I did it myself. He also offered to provide me the sod by ordering some extra for another job he had.
- I accepted the bid two days later and they told me they would call once they had scheduled the job to confirm it was ok for me. I also requested the sod he had offered to get and deliver for me at cost.
- They delivered the sod (30 roles) a couple of days later
- They showed up on the scheduled date first thing in morning and were on site until 6pm
- They did everything included in estimate and also trimmed a large holly tree and picked up a large brush pile I had that were not in the estimate. They did this at no additional charge
- They thoroughly cleaned up the yard, driveway, sidewalk and street
- I was very satisfied with the work they did and professionalism of the crew
- Ed was very helpful and direct in all his communications with me
- I would highly recommend Sage and actually contacted them a couple of weeks later to due some additional landscaping work for me

"Classical Pavers did a beautiful job replacing my front walkway! It was not a straightforward project because it was built on a steep slope with a curve. The owner Thiago, who oversees the project, was a pleasure to work with -- never used any pressure tactics, was very responsive to any questions, and gave a fair price. The two craftsmen who did the work were amazing! They arrived promptly every day, worked extremely hard, and did absolutely beautiful work. They hauled away all the old materials and tidied everything up when the job was done. We definitely would hire them again for a future project and highly recommend them."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

New asphalt goes through two stages: drying and curing. Drying typically takes 24 to 72 hours, after which the surface is solid enough for light use like walking or careful driving. While you may be able to park on it after 72 hours, the surface is still soft and should be treated gently. Full curing is a much longer process, taking anywhere from 30 days to a full year for the asphalt to reach maximum strength. During this extended curing period, the asphalt is susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles, sharp objects, and high temperatures. Factors like weather, the specific asphalt mix, and application thickness all influence drying and curing times. For the most accurate timeline and to ensure the longevity of your new asphalt, it is always best to consult with your installation contractor for their specific recommendations.

While the specific timeline for building a driveway can vary based on driveway length and local weather conditions, the average concrete driveway can require several days to lay down all of the different parts of the driveway. The curing process may require you to avoid using your driveway for a week following construction. Heavier vehicles should be kept off of a new concrete driveway for several weeks. Building a gravel driveway may take just one to two days in total.

A driveway approach is the part of a driveway where the public road meets the private driveway. This section contains several key elements, including the driveway apron, the curb cut, and the end slope. Depending on the slope of the driveway, this area may also contain the trench drain.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.
