Customers say: Quick response

"Michael was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was thorough and detail oriented. He answered any questions I had and explained everything to me as we went along. He offered valuable advice outside of the inspection items, which I found very helpful since this is our first home. I would definitely recommend to others and would hire for future needs."

"Mina was extremely helpful and provided practical advice. While at my home to look at a flooring issue, he also happily answered questions I had regarding the ceiling and an exterior balcony. He provided superb service and flexible pricing based on the report requested post-inspection. I will definitely be calling him again for any future structural engineering questions."

"Mike is very detailed, knowledgeable, and friendly! Even when on the phone, he explained the whole process, and he even explained why most home inspectors did not perform lead inspection tests. He arrived on site early and educated me on each aspect of the home, what he was looking for, and how it would affect me as a future home owner. I bought my own lead testing swabs and followed him throughout the inspection, he pointed out the places where I should test. His report was submitted the next day and was incredibly detailed. His pricing is comparable to other home inspectors but he is an amazing person to work with."

"Purchased and sold homes frequently so I wouldn't say that this is my first rodeo in terms of hiring a home inspector. However Isaac's inspections takes it a step further. These days just being on time doesn't cut it you have to take it a step further in terms of professionalism. Gary from Isaac's inspections is truly professional courteous and extremely knowledgeable. Truly will recommend him and keep using him for my inspection needs."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

The foundation, roof, and the home’s major systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) will take the longest to inspect since problems with any of these areas can point to safety or structural issues. An attic inspection or basement inspection may also take extra time to complete so the inspector can look for signs of moisture damage, mold, or pest problems, all of which are common in these spaces.

Annually, to check for structural stability, surface wear, and secure fittings.

There are many things to look for when buying a brick house. Here are some of the key things you should pay close attention to.

  • Lintels: Look for cracks, holes, displacement, or corrosion

  • Mortar: Check to see if the mortar is old and crumbling, in need of repointing, or new. Also check to see if the mortar has a professional finish.

  • Walls: Check along each side of the house. If a wall is bowing outward, this indicates a severe issue such as foundation damage or that the walls are ready to fall.

  • Cracks: If there are stair step cracks in the brickwork, this indicates an unstable foundation.

Yes, in most cases, you can negotiate and make a counteroffer after a home inspection. If the inspection reveals issues with the property, you can use these findings as leverage to reduce the purchase price. Your counteroffer should account for the estimated cost of necessary repairs, and it's important to find a reasonable balance to increase the chances of the seller accepting. The main exception is if you waived the home inspection contingency to make your offer more appealing. In that situation, while you can still have an inspection done for your own information, you have no contractual recourse to make a counteroffer based on the results.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.
