Not only did he not try to over sell us on products that were not necessary he steered us in the right direction which was greatly appreciated in these tumultuous financial times. Mina is a godsend. My house was built in 1920, has cracked plaster and sloping floors in spots and I was concerned about structural issues. Mina came on a Saturday and let us take him through the house inside and out, top to bottom. He is extremely knowledgeable, thorough and patient. He told us what needed some attention and what was essentially to be expected for a 100-year old house. He answered questions and explained what to look for that would be serious issues. Mina also offered to review any estimates for proposed work for our repairs. He is the best stress-reducer around. I highly recommend Mina.

Mina (the owner) was respectful (texted me over an hour before our appointment to say he may be 30 minutes late), incredibly kind, completely thorough, and incredibly knowledgeable and informative. I had a quote for structural foundation repair for $45K! He inspected everything in its entirety, explained what was happening and how to fix it and mitigate any future problems, saving me about $40K! I contacted three big-name companies to access a series of basement wall cracks. Two came and proposed differing actions. Neither solution, nor costs, appealed to me. I needed expert engineering guidance. Researched several candidates, and selected Mina Mikaeel. I informed him of relevant details about the house, and of my meeting with the basement people. He conducted a thorough assessment of the structure and the land grading. During that process, he advised me on the causes of the cracks and suggestions on how I can easily prevent more. He cited the pros and cons of Basement Repair companies, and then explained â with evidenceâ that my situation was not as serious as those folks led me to believe. Mr. Mikaeel then defined a corrective action plan: citing the necessary actions, the equipment needed, cuts to be made, the sequence, and specific materials for sealing. He also recommended qualified people, and offered to come back to assess their work. The work was completed. I have peace of mind (and a warranty on that work)! Very professional experience with Mina, the engineer who thoroughly explained his findings and suggested remedies. He confirmed house settlement suspicions and causes in a lengthy, detailed report complete with photos. I hired Mina to help determine the severity of cracking in my home. He was very down to earth, approachable, and felt like he had my best interest in mind. He took the time to explain everything until I understood and put my mind at ease.

Don't let Contractors take advantage of you, and hire an independent professional engineer. We did have several cracks around the house including the foundations walls, interior walls and ceilings. We hired many contractors for estimates for the repairs, we did have huge difference in quoted starting from $7K to $35K, then we hired an independent engineer to do a full structural assessment. We hired Kiro Engineering to do the structural assessment. They have three options for the assessment. We chose the highest option with a full assessment and structural integrity for the entire house. The report was very detailed with photos, observations, and recommendations. We like the way it was organized. The report was simple to read and understand for a "layman" who is not a professional contractor. This report gave us the right cost estimate. We almost saved $25K.

He was 50 minutes late resulting in my fiance being late to work. We hired him to tell us the best way to repair a foundation crack .He recommended that we fix the crack from both the inside and outside with epoxy injection. First off, to fix from the outside would require us to remove some of the deck and also the concrete slab undneath it with an exterior french drain would cost us 20k. I asked why we couldnt go from the inside and use an interior drain as we got quoted 5k. His response was they dont work. They clog. Well yes, an outside french drain will too eventually and the next basement contractor said he can leave the cap visible so we have access. He also said they dont use epoxy anymore and use urethane as it is proven to be the superior method which I did look up online and he is correct. So this structural engineer; was 50 minutes late and couldnt give a good reason why we shouldnt go with an interior fix and it cost us 290 dollars without a report and he was useless!!! Stay away!!!!

We had some structural problems with the foundation of my parents house in Hockessin Delaware and Mina from Kiro Engineering LLC came out to their home to assess the problems. He was not only thorough and detailed but took the time to fully explain what needed to be done. He also let us know a good estimate of what we should expect to pay which really helped. Great personality and I would highly recommend him. Trust me you won t be disappointed.
