"These guys did a tremendous job installing blown in insulation in our attic and air sealing the house. The fan test showed how much energy was being lost to drafts. They also installed a new disappearing stairway. I will hire Brittin Built again."

"I called Climate Masters because my AC wasn't working. He came out within 2 hours and then returned 2 hours later to fix the problem. He was very through in explaining the problem and fixed it quickly. He told me that if I had any further problems this year with my AC he would come back at no charge. He honored the 15% discount coupon from Angies list. I was very impressed at his reaction time to my problem, professionalism and knowledge and he was a super nice guy. I put his magnetic business card on my fridge and would not call anyone else with my AC problems in the future and will recommend him to anyone I know who needs servicing. I would highly recommend you use Climate Masters. You won't be disappointed, you will be surprisingly pleased!"

"Ira was cordial and professional. He has practical experience and knowledge of residential energy audits. He was able to provide useful suggestions but not definitive solutions to issues. That may have been due to inaccessible interior walls. I am frustrated that a full written report that had been promised still has not been produced six weeks later."

"Sorry for significant delay re:review but stuff happens. The guys were thorough and professional throughout the process. All questions and concerns well addressed. Very customer focused. Because of my delay, I can say that without a doubt , the new unit was efficient and cost- effective.(during the summer of 2015)

"Person who visited was very polite and noted that what I purchased was likely not something that would meet my expectations.  I wanted an energy audit, how my systems could be improved in home, lighting, heating, insulation and air conditioners.  What I got was a list of things they could work on and the price to do that work.  The work list in no way was considered an energy audit, rather it was a punch list of things I could do based on their visual inspection.  I did not have a comparison of work and benefit/savings calculation.  There was no checklist of inefficiencies and how that translated into energy losses. For example, multiple hi hat lights in house, they spoke about boxing and insulating a few, less than 10, when I have almost 90 in house.  Overall I was disappointed, the tech who came said the offering needed to be better presented prior to start of work."

"Estimator came out quickly, was very personable, and could schedule my install appointment a few weeks later right then and there. When the tech came out he was polite, efficient, and very quick.  Overall I was very happy with the service and would recommend them to others if the price is competitive with another company.

". the work was being done was  at best puzzling and cast a shadow over the entire experience. What makes this review diffulcut is that I want to give higher marks for the work that was done since we have not had any problems to date but the fact that even after they called to set up one last visit to tie up some remainig concerns they never showed up and this makes it diffulcult to have positive feelings. Questions about the supposedly HOME SURGE PROTECTION system and WARRANTY and how to handle any future issues regarding it have never been explained or paperwork supplied. When it is so hard to reach the boss it creates  an environment of distrust be it real or imagined.

"RC came out to service the hot water heater at my house in South Jersey last year. Even though it was an old unit, no one tried to coerce me into purchasing a new heater, which would have been out of my budget. They arrived in a very timely manner, the employees were knowledgeable and professional, and the problem was fixed immediately. I would recommend them to anyone!"

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

Some types of electric fireplaces use more electricity than others. Models that produce 1,500 watts will have more of an effect on your heating bill than 750-watt models.

Electric fireplaces use an average of $1.85 of electricity every eight hours. These minimal operational costs aren’t likely to make a big difference in your electric bill—unless you’re using it as a primary heating source for your home and it’s running most of the time.

Fireplaces can theoretically help you save on heating bills if you lower the temperature throughout the rest of your home and heat only a single room that you occupy using the fireplace. However, in most cases, homeowners won’t save any money on heating bills. Gas and electric fireplace inserts could actually lead to a spike in your respective energy bills if you use them frequently, and if you don’t keep up with chimney maintenance and repairs, your traditional masonry fireplace could actually be a source of heat loss in the winter.

Modern windows provide enhanced UV protection, improved heat retention, and cooling efficiency, contributing to overall household energy savings.

Leaving vents open but closing doors in unused rooms will probably not save money on your energy bill. Closed doors prevent the natural flow of air throughout the home, which could reduce the efficiency of the overall HVAC system. They could also restrict airflow into and through the return vents, making the HVAC system less efficient.

There are energy-efficient options when building a cottage. Select green building materials, high-performance insulation, and energy-efficient windows when designing your cottage. Options such as solar panels, efficient HVAC systems, and LED lighting can lower your utility bills and reduce your environmental impact. Many builders offer energy-efficient upgrades as part of the design process.
