"After receiving bids from half a dozen contractors, we decided to go with Original Design Painting. We were not disappointed. The job was not easy. Our house is a semi-attached Victorian, covered with cedar siding that had long been ignored. The wood was extremely dry and the stain faded. Recep and his crew brought their enthusiastic efforts to the job, and now our 115 year old house looks beautiful. Recep was extremely helpful at every step of the way, from scoping out the work, to selecting colors, to starting on time, to final clean up. We heartily recommend Original Design."

Small jobs welcome

"Baci Painting is the absolute BEST! They transformed our home from dark walls to light and bright (including all trim). We had our entire home painted and if we had more walls to paint we would hire Baci Painting again. I would recommend Baci Painting to anyone looking for top quality, care and service for your home. Top notch!"

They were very thorough with their emails, price quotes, and painting job! They made sure the job was perfect and done right. They painted three rooms including walls, doors, closets, trim, and ceilings and completed this in less than 2 days. Highly recommend!! "They didn't really pay attention to detail. They slept paint on outlets door knobs window sills that another company had to clean or clear the paint so that I could open the windows lock doors and to use the outlets. They also recommended me to purchase an enormous amount of paint that I never used."

Customers say: Quality work

"The company did a great job power wash/prepping my siding and chimney, and re-did our chimney painting. The owner recognizes the importance of customer service, communication and follow up. He was great, and provided some future ideas as well. Pricing was fair and the work was perfect. Will be recommending to friends in the Voorhees/Marlton area. - Tim"

Painting questions, answered by experts

The best time to stain a fence is when the weather is dry and temperatures are between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Late spring, early summer, and fall are typically the best seasons for this project. You should avoid staining during very hot weather, like in the middle of summer, or when it is raining. Heat and moisture can cause the stain to dry unevenly. Likewise, if it's too cold, such as in winter or early spring, the stain may not be able to dry fully. Before you start, check the forecast to ensure there will be no rain and low humidity for at least a few days.

Choosing the best color for your home exterior should factor in longevity as well as your personal taste. To keep your house looking newly painted as long as possible, stay away from red paint. Although red homes pop and are quintessential for country-style barns, red paint tends to fade fastest in the sun. Go with earth tones if you want paint that best resists fading.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.

Overall costs depend on the fence height and length, prep work required, and labor if hiring professionals, ranging between $1 and $4 per square foot.

Staining a fence is less expensive than painting a fence due to the cost of materials and the longevity of the finish. Stain not only lasts longer than paint without chipping or peeling, but you also won’t have to put in the extra time and cost to prime the surface first.
