"My former lawn equipment service business closed. I found out about Housecalls thru Google searches. So happy I did. Everything about this business was top shelf. Jason (owner & technician) was responsive, pleasant and professional. He was on time with his service call (precisely on time!!!). He did all the repairs at my property in under an hour and his costs were materially less than what I paid my former business (where I also had to bring my equipment and be without it for a week or two). HIGHLY recommend Housecalls - they will be my lawn equipment service provider from this point forward."

"Terrible company. Possibly a scam. They attempted to sell me a part they didn't even have, and after waiting patiently for OVER A MONTH, I canceled my order. When calling them to confirm, they told me they never had the part to sell to me. What a joke!"

If your machine is in working order, great! We’ll help you keep it that way with our standard, full-service maintenance. If it is out of service or experiencing problems, let us diagnose it and recommend a professional solution. No job is too large or too small…we do it all! Pick-up and delivery are available, or we can work at your location.

"Generally people is friendly and responded on timely manner. Unfortunately professional level is very low and no respect to personal property is none existing. They charge me $60 for diagnostic with a conclusion that something wrong with engine. They told that my tractor is garbage and they will take at least $700 just to try to fix and it better if I will remove tractor from their property. When I got next day to pick up tractor and ask for some clarification one of the brilliant diagnoses was that my coil is bad. When I asked why, I was told , because there is electrical tape on wires???? When we decide to take it on my trailer, they did not even buzzer to disengage transmission or brakes, they just drag it true the yard while transmission was clucking and squeaking . When I finally got home, I discovered that bunch of bolts and was missing, parts not secured... just disaster. To make story short, I took cylinder had off, found that valve saddle fall off. I pressed it back assembled everything and start engine. It works better than before and it took 40 min for all job $0 for parts.... What a shame on this shop."

Lawn Tool Repair questions, answered by experts

Lawnmowers require seasonal maintenance to continue working correctly. With routine maintenance, you can extend its life to the fullest, which is around 10 years for push mowers and 5-8 years for riding mowers. To keep your lawn mower working correctly, you’ll want to take the following steps at least once a year:

  • Replace the spark plug

  • Change the oil

  • Drain the fuel tank

  • Clean the mowing deck (ideally, after every mow)

  • Replace the air filter

  • Check the carburetor

  • Sharpen the blades

  • Fog the engine

  • Check the tires

There are a few reasons why a lawn mower cord won’t pull, including an engine jam, a tangled cord, a broken recoil starter, or poor maintenance. To troubleshoot, turn the mower off. Then, inspect the cord, look for any tangles, and gently pull it to identify where the resistance starts. If you’re not seeing any obstructions, you may need to call in a professional for repairs.

A standard home lawn mower with sharp blades can handle a thin layer of leaves without issue. You may need to make a couple of passes within several days to mulch leaves down, but your mower shouldn’t struggle. If your mower comes with a mulching kit, like an attachment to blow leaves out the side, that’s a good sign it’s ready for fall leaves. Set your mower to the highest or near-highest height for this project so it focuses on the leaves rather than the grass below.

Repair costs range from $50 to $400, depending on issue severity, part replacements, and labor.

The best and safest way to deal with used motor oil is to bring it to an approved facility to be recycled and refined into new material. You may see recommendations to use old oil as an equipment lubricant or wood stain, but using it in these ways can be dangerous, messy, and environmentally irresponsible.
