Moriarty General Contracting started in 2006 branching off from Moriarty tile, established in the early 1950s. Our team will create your dreams, with little time and great workmanship!

"Walter and his crew patched holes in my driveway and built us a new masonry staircase for our backyard. The job went smoothly and was completed on time. The finished project displayed skilled workmanship and we are very happy with it. Walter is easy to work with and responsive to all questions. I will definitely call him again for future masonry work."

"I really rate this company a ZERO, (F-)! Please read the entire review although long. Do not use this company. I was a loyal customer for 5 years and spent over $25,000. They took my loyalty for granted. I gave them the benefit of the doubt on their previous workmanship errors and this year I regret ever using them. Attaching pics of a fence install that the panels keeps coming loose. Waited an additional 6 weeks for their order errors that didn't include the caps and end post (still waiting for it as they never installed the correct end post.) They make many promises and do not fulfill them. Their customer service is the worse I've ever encountered. At one point they said the loose panel can't be fixed, nothing else can be done. This occurred with tropical storm Isaias coming the next day. I was concerned that the panel would fly away and cause damage. I asked them to do their job, follow through on their promises and back their work. They insulted me and was very nasty with their response. In addition to the loose panels, the post is coming loose. The fence was never leveled. I have different heights for each panel. (Pics - 35, 43, 66, 70, 78 and 80.) They charged extra for their mistake (they did not measure correctly) and I didn't get the design I requested. Pics - 60 and 61 I requested a circle or a fan design for the addition to the patio, I do not know what design they installed. (Pic - Sahara Chestnut Circular Design) I reported to one of the owners and the office manager that I saw one of their crew members urinating on my property. Disgusting! Timeline: * 05/06/20 - Contract signed with a 50% down payment * 06/20/20 - Work started two weeks after they promised * 06/23/20 - Made final payment (big mistake) in good faith that they would install the caps and end post. * 06/24/20 - Panel became loose. Reported Loose Fence Panel. Reminded them that there was still incorrect end post, panels not leveled and no caps. * 06/26/20 - Promised fix. * 07/01/20 - No responses. No show for loose panel fix. After numerous complaints and calls, owner and office manager came to look at issue. * No correspondence for 3 weeks * 08/04/20 - End posts and caps were to be delivered and installed. Company fixed the loose panel and added the caps which came loose. End post still not delivered yet. Next panel came loose. Advised the company. * 08/05/20 - I called and was advised they are "simply waiting for the end post". * 08/13/20 - I am still waiting for Blue Mountain to fix the panel and loose post in addition to the end post being delivered and installed. I am totally frustrated with this company and will never recommend nor do business with them ever again. Save your time and money and avoid the aggravation."

Snow removal services FAQs

Before hiring a snow removal company, it’s essential first to ask questions to understand the details thoroughly. Since every company has different policies and snow removal methods, it’s best to clarify upfront before you’re left in a heap of snow. Some starting questions to consider include:

  • What are the procedures for a snowstorm? Do I need to call you each time, or do you automatically come out?

  • Do you wait until after the snow has stopped falling or make multiple passes throughout the storm?

  • What is your method of removal?

  • Do you use salt after the snow is removed? Is it pet-safe?

  • How does your billing work? Do you bill extra for blizzard conditions?

  • Can I sign an annual contract, or do you bill for each storm?

The cost of an annual snow removal contract is $200 to $600. This cost is significantly impacted by the area you live in. Places that don’t receive considerable snowfall might charge less for an annual contract, and those areas that get heaps of snow throughout the fall and winter can expect to pay on the higher side. In addition, property size, expected response time, and extra services like clearing a sidewalk can also impact your cost.

Yes, most states require that snow removal companies be insured under workers' compensation. This protects the employees financially if an injury were to happen (and when dealing with ice and snow, it’s possible that injury could occur). In addition, most states require snow removal companies to be covered under general liability, which would help cover the cost of any property damage incurred during the removal process.

Depending on where you live and your average snowfall, removing snow from your property yourself with either a shovel or a snowblower is reasonable. A snow shovel costs around $60, and a snowblower can range from $100 to $2,300. However, taking a DIY approach to this isn’t always the best option. In these cases, it’s best to hire a professional snow removal company:

  • If you have a large property or an extended area that needs clearing

  • If you have certain health conditions, such as mobility issues

  • If you want to save time or need the snow removed ASAP

  • If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall and want to offset your time spent

  • If you lack the space to store snow removal equipment

It’s no surprise that removing snow from your driveway makes coming and going significantly easier and lowers the risk of falling. However, it’s important to note that if you don’t remove snow from your driveway, you run the risk of damaging your paving. As the snow melts, water can seep into your driveway. This can lead to the formation of cracks. When the water freezes, this expands the minor cracks, leading to more significant damage.
