"Arete Electric did an outstanding job on my kitchen and basement after I experienced an under sink burst filter which occurred in the middle of the night… it was a flood. Tommy and his team were extremely reliable, skilled, flexible and simply a pleasure to deal with. A lot of work was needed due to differences in code from when my kitchen was built until now. They also were able to install undercabinet lighting at the counter level and floor level and cleverly hide electrical plugs so not to as interfere with the aesthetic of the kitchen . I highly recommend!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical work in Nashua homes can impact interconnected systems like heating, plumbing, and security. For example, updating wiring may require adjustments to electric heat pumps or sump pump circuits. If your home features well water systems or integrated smart devices, electrical changes could disrupt their operation. Before starting a project, review how proposed upgrades might interact with these systems, especially in older Nashua properties with unique layouts.

Helpful?

For new homeowners in Nashua, start by scheduling a thorough electrical panel inspection, especially if your home is over 30 years old. Upgrading to modern circuit breakers can help prevent overloads. Install GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and any damp areas to meet local code and enhance safety. Consider adding whole-house surge protection and upgrading outdoor outlets to withstand NH’s seasonal temperature swings and winter moisture.

Helpful?

In Nashua, homeowners often overlook the need for proper permits and inspections, which can lead to project delays or safety issues. Attempting complex electrical upgrades, especially in homes with knob-and-tube wiring, is risky without professional help. Failing to account for local code requirements, neglecting weatherproofing for outdoor work, and not coordinating with utility providers are additional mistakes that can complicate electrical projects in the area.

Helpful?

Nashua’s cold winters, humid summers, and frequent storms require careful planning for electrical projects. Outdoor installations are best scheduled for milder months to avoid frozen ground and snow. Durable, weather-resistant materials are essential for exterior outlets and fixtures. Surge protection and backup power systems are especially important in NH, where power outages from ice storms and heavy winds are common, helping to protect your home’s electrical infrastructure year-round.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Nashua can make your home more attractive to buyers, especially those seeking modern safety features and energy efficiency. Improvements like updated electrical panels, surge protection, and smart home wiring are valued in neighborhoods with older housing stock. These upgrades can also help your home pass inspections more smoothly and reduce concerns about insurance eligibility, which is important in Nashua’s active real estate market.
