"This guy is amazing. He said he would leave the keys for me and I could just come pick them up. I went and got them, drove all the way up to Saugus, and they worked perfect!! I am going to use this guy for any lock issues I need in the future. He did house keys for me, and I am going to go back to get a spare car key and fob."

"Bought a new house and knew from the home inspection I would need a little work to get the openers operational. PJ was very quick to respond to my inquiry and came by on a Sunday to take a look. He quoted me a price right then and there, and said he could do the job now. He had the doors operational in no time. I also appreciated the fact that he did not try to upsell me on things I did not need."

"I called Justin around 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Friday and told Justin that I had lost the key to my truck. Justin told me that he could meet me at my house at 5 pm and program a new key. Justin arrived just as promised and within 15 minutes I had a new key for my truck as well as a new key fob which I did not have previously. Justin was very professional, explained everything he was doing. I would recommend Countryside Lock and Key to anyone who needs a great locksmith. They rates are fantastic and the service quick and professional. Again, thank you Justin for assisting me and providing a new key for my truck. If you ever need a locksmith, look no further than Countryside Lock and Key."

"I was very impressed with Premier locksmith. Nick was courteous prompt and acted very professionally. I'm a single mom and very very conscious of who I let around my children and who I let into my house. I felt very comfortable having Nick at my house. I feel that the price was more than fair, especially since it was such short notice. Not only was he polite and courteous on the phone he walked me through the whole situation, something that I've never been through before, and he had a lot of patience. I would highly recommend this company. I feel that it's worth the money tenfold, just to have somebody as professional and courteous who got the job done so quickly at the house. I would recommend them, and I would have them come to my house again."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Most jobs take 30 minutes to 2 hours, but high-security systems or multiple lock installations may require additional time.

Aside from the labor costs, several other factors can impact the cost of hiring a locksmith. If you can avoid services during off-hours, you can save on fees often charged for urgent requests. Consider additional factors such as:

  • Type of services required

  • Emergency call fees

  • Home and lock location

  • Number of locks to repair or install

  • Peak hours

  • Type of locks

When the temps drop, sometimes you need to thaw a lock to regain access. Options include warming the key with warm water, applying a de-icing spray, or using a hair dryer on low heat. Avoid using boiling water to prevent damage. To prevent future freezing, consider installing a cover or shield over the lock to keep water and ice out. Remember to be patient and gentle during thawing to avoid damaging the lock or key. If all else fails, consult a professional locksmith.

While lock crunching as a whole is not terribly common, it is one of the most frequently used means of forced entry into a home. Recent data suggests that forced entry through lock crunching or snapping occurs in more than 25% of burglaries.

Keyless locks are great for convenience, letting you unlock doors with a code or your phone so you don't need to carry keys around. They also often come with helpful features like temporary codes for guests. On the downside, they can be more costly up front and do require batteries that will eventually need replacing. If you value ease of use and additional security features, keyless locks are worth the investment.
