I was sad to see reviews that said they took too long- I honestly just donâ t think it was fair. Who could have foreseen the impacts of a pandemic? So, for us, the delays were what they were, and we appreciated that they did all they could, with what they had to work with, and kept up updated along the way. A steam shower goes in place of an existing shower, has an opening at the top, and functions as both a shower and a source of steam (at around 110 F). Because steam is involved, steam showers are classified as wet heat. For any humidity-haters, saunas are enclosed spaces that can be put anywhere in the house and produce dry heat. That means they use electricity to power the heat rather than water to create steam.

It will take several hours or more to build a sauna. A prefab kit will take anywhere from three to 20 hours to install, depending on complexity and your skill level. If you’re doing a custom build, it can take more than 50 hours—especially if you need to add ventilation, ductwork, and other renovations.

The major difference between a steam shower and a sauna is that a sauna generates dry heat and a steam shower generates heat from steam, creating nearly 100% humidity. Because of the moisture involved, a steam shower can feel as warm as a sauna even though its temperature is lower, between 90 and 120 degrees.

Having a sauna at home may be considered a luxury to some homebuyers, which can give you a good return on investment. This, however, depends on the homebuyers. Some may not want to spend the extra time and cost of heating and maintaining a sauna.
