"I’d like to talk about my experience with Southern National Roofing. Stay as far away from the company as you possibly can. I’ve done a good amount of different sales jobs throughout my time but this was like nothing of all. Originally when interviewing, they told me I’d be making 8-12% of all projects sold and that their average roof was about 15/20k. I was told, If I were to discount the sale I would keep the that 8-12%. I was also told that due to flying from pa to Charolette for the training I’d be reimbursed for my travel if it does or doesn’t work. When I arrived to the first day of training, they first preached their “core values” of being “honest, having integrity” etc. within the first 10 minutes of being there. The sales manager Gary asked “beyond this sales role, is anyone here looking for advancement into management?” Everyone in the room besides 3 people and 1 that didn’t hear the question raised their hand. Gary then says “you, you, you and you please leave immediately, I know what I’m looking for and that’s not it.” Yet the job posting specifically asks for money-motivated individuals with a strong background of sales success. The person that did not hear the question then interjects and says “I did not hear the question sir” yet, Gary the sales manager, did not care. After Gary’s aggressive tactics to get the gentleman whom did not hear the question to leave the room. After back and forth for a full minute the gentleman left. Most people in the room knew something was wrong. I almost walked out right then and there. I stayed in my seat surprisingly and continued the first day. When going over the payment compensation, it was completely different than I was told in the interviews. 7% at par then 10% on top of anything above par. Then the more discount the extreme the drop of commission. They then go on to say their average roof is between 25/35k. I received more of the script in the later days and it felt as if their script was dishonest and shady and it didn’t feel right. The script says you’ve been in the roofing industry for over 10 years (a lie to the customer.) After that day, I go up to Gary and I ask, “I believe I was one of the only people who flew down here from pa, if things don’t workout I still get that travel reimbursement correct?” He says, “we invested $150 a day into your hotel.” I was surprised that was the response I got. I go on to say “I need to know financially if I will be reimbursed.” Gary then says, “yes you’ll be reimbursed.” I walk in the next day after understanding the script was dishonest and not for a strong morality person like myself. I go up to Gary and I ask for the travel reimbursement. Gary then tells me he will not be reimbursing me for my travel due to my premature leave, even though the day before it was promised to me. Conclusion: in the first 3 days I understood I was lied to 3 different times by 3 different people. The company frames it as this unique opportunity to make tons of money, this is partially true with their close % but after running their numbers myself. Their close % doesn’t match up to the revenue they reported last year (possibly another lie but I can’t prove that). The interviews do whatever they can to bait you into at least going to the training class. They fired 3 people on the spot after asking what I believe to be a trick question. Genuinely, they could’ve just said they were looking for people to move up in the interviews and turned people away in the interviews. Instead of wasting peoples time and money to come down here. Some people drive 3/4 hours just to be turned away by a trick question, and fired one for not hearing the question. I was told I’d be reimbursed for my travel the day before just for the sales manager Gary to go back on his word. This company is the lowest of the low when it comes to sales and those who have morality and looking for at least a decent company culture, stay as far away as you can. For those whom do not care what they say to people as long as they get a sale, try it out maybe. But at the end of the day, if they preach honesty and transparency it was nowhere to be found on the first couple days, what do you think is gonna happen 2/3 months later. Overall this was the worst sales experience I’ve been apart of and couldn’t be happier I left earlier without wasting anymore time on an untrustworthy employer."

The length of time your siding will last will depend on the siding material and your climate. It’s important to remember that proper routine maintenance, like twice-a-year cleaning, is vital to help extend the longevity of your siding and to avoid replacement before its expected lifetime ends.

  • Vinyl, aluminum, and wood siding lasts 20 to 40 years

  • Fiber cement siding lasts around 50 years

  • Brick and stone veneer siding lasts at least 100 years

Vinyl siding has a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer against cracking and fading. Realistically, 25 to 30 years is the lifespan.

Siding repair costs $870 for an average homeowner. This cost could be as little as $75 or as much as $16,000, depending on your existing siding material, repair type, and damage level. For example, for basic siding repair, you can expect to pay between $2 and $16 per square foot for materials and labor. However, if you have extensive damage or for more expensive materials like stucco, that price jumps to $4 to $50 per square foot.

There is a difference between repairing/partial replacement and a complete installation. A repair service call for vinyl siding is at least $300.00. The more material that needs to be purchased for partial replacement, the higher the cost. The average cost for a complete installation of vinyl siding and soffit is $17k to $22K depending on the size and grade of materials.

There are certain circumstances where your homeowners insurance might cover the expense of siding repair. If you have siding damage due to extreme weather, a natural disaster, a fire, or a hail storm, your policy might fully or partially pay for the repair or replacement cost. However, most policies will not help pay for repairs due to general wear and tear. It’s best to review your homeowners insurance policy for full details on what may be covered.

In certain situations, your homeowners insurance may cover the cost of siding repairs or replacement. If your siding is damaged by extreme weather conditions, a natural disaster, a fire, or a hailstorm, your insurance policy could pay for some or all of the repair or replacement costs. This coverage can be crucial, as severe weather events and disasters can cause significant damage to your home.

However, it’s important to note that most homeowners insurance policies will not cover repairs due to general wear and tear or normal aging of materials. For instance, fading, cracking, or rotting caused by prolonged exposure to the elements is typically considered a maintenance issue and is not eligible for reimbursement.

To fully understand what’s covered, it’s crucial to review your homeowners insurance policy in detail. Pay close attention to exclusions, specific types of coverage for exterior damage, and the conditions under which you can file a claim for siding repair or replacement. It’s also a good idea to consult with your insurance provider to get a clear explanation of your coverage and how to maximize the benefits available to you.

When dealing with siding damage and potential insurance claims, it’s equally important to work with an experienced contractor who can guide you through the evaluation and repair process. A reputable contractor not only helps assess the extent of the damage but can also work alongside your insurance company to ensure that you receive the full benefits of your policy. An experienced contractor will thoroughly inspect the damage and provide an accurate, detailed estimate for repairs. They’ll help document the damage properly, which can be crucial in ensuring your insurance claim is successful. Additionally, they can assist in identifying any potential issues that may have been overlooked, ensuring that you don’t miss out on the coverage that you’re entitled to. Contractors with experience in insurance claims can also serve as advocates, communicating with your insurance provider.

The cost to replace siding for your home is $11,450 on average. But siding replacement can cost up to $40,000 or more, with the largest expense being your chosen material. For example, for a 2,000 square feet house, the average cost of siding materials such as vinyl is between $9,000 and $14,000. Wood siding is a little more expensive, ranging from $16,000 to $26,000. However, for the same size house using brick or stone, that cost jumps to $18,000 to $100,000. When choosing to replace your home’s siding, it’s essential to consider your climate and longevity.

There are several different types of siding available to give you the home exterior of your dreams. Each type of siding has its own cost factors, estimated lifespan, and benefits to fit your needs. Some common siding options include:

  • Vinyl

  • Wood

  • Aluminum

  • Fiber cement

  • Brick

  • Stone and stone veneer

  • Stucco

If you want to stay environmentally friendly, wood siding is natural, recyclable, and renewable. However, if you’re looking for a durable siding option that is more resistant to dents and scratches, brick or stone siding is your best choice.
