"I was amazed at the work they performed. I contacted Ryan to explain about my old house that had a very sooty and mossy brick chimney...not to mention a very dirty brick patio. I was worried that the old grout in my brick would be damaged by pressure washing, Ryan assured me that they would be very gentle...by first treating problem areas, scrubbing if needed and then rinsing with gentle pressure. He said they could also clean the wooden part of my house and deck. They cleaned the wooden areas and did not damage any old paint. They did an outstanding job...above and beyond my expectations. The crew was very punctual and polite...they completed the job in the promised time frame. I will definitely hire Excel Pro Services for other work. My old house has a fresh new look....Thank You Ryan and crew!!!"

"Estimator arrived promptly at time discussed and was very friendly. Gave us estimate to get several rooms in the house painted as well as a discount. We were asked to go and choose our colors; which we did. Painters arrived on time on the day the painting was discussed. We were told it would take 2 days to complete. The person I spoke with the first time was not present, so I had to explain to the painters what should be done. I shouldn't have to do that. Person in charge should know what needs to be done. Also, most of the painters didn't speak English so it was much harder to communicate. Most of the walls are painted perfectly, but it looks like the painters were a little rushed towards the end. I continue to find little paint splatters through out the house. I found some paint in both of the bathrooms. My only request is that the painters clean up more thoroughly once they have completed the services. I also ask that they look over the walls before closing up. I had to look at the walls myself and then explain in broken spanish that they needed to cover several more places. Other than that, they did a really good job. They were on time and worked quickly. I would definitely hire them again if the above issues are resolved.

"One I finally reached him, we set up a date & time. I did have to call him again when he didn't show, but we rescheduled for later the same day & all turned out very well. The ad is somewhat misleading in that I thought it included cleaning out the gutters. It does not! Only cleaning the outside of gutters, & downspouts- not what may be inside the gutters. If I had known this, I could have gotten a better deal elsewhere. However at the end of the day, I was very pleased w/the results & he gave me a good deal on the other areas I wanted done."

"I can't say enough good things about Scott and his team. I have hired them multiple times for various projects. Scott is very responsive when you contact him to get quotes. Scott and his entire team are professional and they show up when they say they will. All of the jobs they completed for me are high quality work. They have years of experience. When the work is done they clean-up well and do not leave a mess. Also, they are just nice people. It is hard to find someone who has all of these great qualities in the construction industry today. I highly recommend SG Painting."

"This was the easiest possible process I could have imagined.  I already had some plans so they just gave me a quote, timeframe, and went to work.  They worked VERY quickly and the quality was impeccable.  The board spacing was good, the deck screws were sunk below level (so you don't feel them when walking barefoot), the wood is great quality, the edges were all smoothed and sanded.  I can't think of a single complaint so far.  I would use them again in a heartbeat and I would definitely recommend them for deck work.
They were also the most competitive price for a natural wood deck and I received quotes from 4 companies.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Before installing a new railing, check the condition of the deck frame and joists, especially around the perimeter where posts attach. If boards are loose, soft, or show signs of rot, the structure may need repair. A deck pro can inspect your framing to confirm it meets load-bearing requirements.

You can nail or screw composite decking, but 3-inch decking screws are the better fastener choice. Unlike nails, decking screws won’t back out of the composite material over time. There’s also little danger of splitting composite material when driving screws, so you don’t need to pre-drill holes unless otherwise recommended by your decking manufacturer.

The “best” material is in the eye of the beholder, as each common decking material boasts its pros and cons. Poured concrete is the best budget-friendly option, but composite wood brings high-grade aesthetics without breaking the bank. Wood is the most traditional material, but it requires more maintenance than some other materials. In other words, do your research before settling on a deck material to find the one that’s best for your pool.

As with patios, there are many types of deck choices to choose from to add personalization to your home. Some common deck options include:

  • Attached decks are anchored to the home and include simple ground-level options or multi-level structures with stairways and separate landings.

  • Detached island decks are not attached to the home; they’re a freestanding structure in the yard.

  • Wraparound decks connect the back of the house with at least one other side and often are built with railings for safety.

  • Multi-level decks connect your deck through varying levels of elevation, featuring landings that are attached to stairs.

You can build an outdoor kitchen on a deck, but you should choose composite decking since it's more heat-resistant. Metal deck materials like steel and aluminum are also good choices because they're less flammable than wood. You should also consider the weight of the kitchen—make sure your deck can support it and any appliances you plan to use. You should consult a structural engineer to confirm exactly how much weight your deck can safely support when building an outdoor kitchen.
