I am very disappointed in the work and level of service I received from Ronald's Painting. I had them install cabinets, back splash tiles, and renovate a whole bathroom. They completed the job but it felt like the bare minimum was done. They didn't caulk anything. Tile work was C- work. The vanity they bought was messed up and warped but they still installed it instead of returning it and waiting for a new one. There wasn't any quality control until I came back from abroad to complain. You can tell they are just a painting company trying to take on more types of work. Maybe stay in your lane. When they installed my cabinets, they didn't bother to put in an electrical outlet above the stove so I have somewhere to plug in the built-in microwave I had installed. They just installed it over the old one and didn't bother. I'm pretty sure they didn't pull any permits because no one would approve that to be up to code. My mom found them from a flyer through church but I guess that doesn't mean they're honest or do good work. STAY AWAY! Update – Ron called me back almost immediately as soon as the review went up. He couldn't return my call but he definitely acted quickly with the review. As you can see from his passive-aggressive response, there is ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, which showed throughout the project. Everything was my fault or the other contractor's fault or how long it's been etc... Yes, the other contractor was a poor communicator but I can assure you that his work had nothing to do with Ron's work. Am I not allowed to sub-contract work out how I see fit according to my budget? So when I brought in another contractor for the other stuff, your team said screw it, we don't need to take ownership for anything? Like the demo being left in my backyard? Yeah, thought so. The reason it's been 10 months is that I've had the house listed for sale. I've recently taken down the listing and am renting it and purchased new appliances, which is when I noticed that Ron's team didn't put in the outlet above the stove for a microwave/hood or put in a water line for the fridge. It's the small details that I thought when I paid Ron, I wouldn't have to worry about. I was wrong. Please don't act like I was a satisfied customer when we parted ways 10 months ago. When I got back from my honeymoon, I was very displeased with the work done and had to do several walkthroughs with your Foreman to even get it to just "all right". So now that I've had to spend more money to fix your lazy mistakes, I'm leaving the review.

What started out as a great experience really ended very poorly. Quoting process was great, and Ron was very responsive. First Saturday of job, 6 crew members showed up and patched and repaired all the work, and we thought this was really going to go fast and efficient.

Every day thereafter, 2-3 crew members would show up and work 8-9 hours each day. They were prompt and polite. However, toward the end of the first week, we noticed that not much progress was being made. People would come into our house and ask, ?that?s all they were able to do?? We asked Ron for an estimate of when the project would be complete, and we never got a response except to say that the colors we had chosen (lighter) were difficult to paint over the dark existing color and were taking more coats than estimated, which we understood. We agreed to pay an extra $200 to cover additional paint.

Toward the middle of the second week, we started getting very impatient as to when the job would be complete, as it was taking a complete 2 weeks to paint 3,000 sq ft, which was much slower than any other painting job we?ve ever had (we have had two other complete interior repaints done on previous homes). My husband observed a few of the crew members repeatedly texting or talking on their cell phones whenever he would be in the same room with them. All 3 members would be working on the same room, which seemed very inefficient when so much had to be done. There was one crew member who came in during the second week that was awesome and quick and very efficient, but the rest of them just seemed to be poking around. We did mention this to Ron as just a heads up as to what we were observing, and received no response. We were not able to unpack any of our boxes because this was taking so long.

At the end of the second week (14 days after the project was complete), the painting was finished but they were just installing the curtain rods we had contracted them to do. We realized that I had purchased all the wrong sizes, so instead of delaying them any further, I told the crew member on site we would finish this portion ourselves and that they didn?t have to return. The same person showed up at our doorstep at 8am the next morning to finish, which totally surprised us because we had just told him he didn?t need to return. So, he left and then rang a few minutes later to collect the check, but I had not received an invoice. Ron messaged me an invoice that still included the money to install the curtains (which they did not do). So I asked him whether we wanted to resend the invoice or just have me deduct the money. No response. So I gave the guy his check minus the money for the curtain rods. Ron texted me hours later to say ?Well you should only take [half] off, I had to send my guy over there today for nothing.? This is after I had specifically told the same guy who showed up NOT to come the following day.  (And it wasn't really "for nothing" considering he collected payment). I honestly have never had a service person be so rude.

While the rooms were nicely coated, a lot of the finishing work was very sloppy. Paint was all over light switches, on baseboards, on our hardwood floor, on our showerhead, and they never came and cleaned it up. I asked them to spot paint ceilings and some were left unpainted. I suppose Ron was so upset with us that he didn?t feel the need to come inspect and finish the job (he came once during the process and did a great job of telling his guys what to redo or finish up). I would never, ever recommend them for their efficiency, professionalism or neatness. To pay $6200 for this quality of work is absurd.

The owner came out and provided a written estimate via email by the next week. We scheduled for Friday August 28th but they didn't start my job until the next day because the job they were completing the night before got extended because the client wanted additional work done. I was ok with that.  I went over paint samples with the owner when he came for the initial visit but I still had to send pictures via text of the color samples right before they came. Then I had to give the address several times which was a little annoying because I had already typed up all the instructions and what I wanted and gave to the owner at the initial visit.  On Saturday the guys arrived 10 minutes early. And it took them a few hours to get started because for some reason the owner did not communicate the paint colors that I wanted (which I had provided for the 2nd time the night before) so they had to leave to get the paint. So instead of starting at 8:30am they started 2 hours later. That afternoon went pretty well, the guys were efficient and did a fantastic job. They were able to complete the foyer, outside of bedrooms and half bath downstairs.  The job wasn't completed so they ended up working a half day on Sunday.  Later on Sunday night, I contacted the owner to make a paint change in the family room (via text) and he never responded. I texted him again early Monday morning because I wanted to make sure that my change was communicated to his guys.  The owner finally contacted me and never told me that it would cost a little more because I changed the paint color but the change was at a fair price so I was ok. I didn't take into consideration that they would have to go get addtl paint but still this could have communicated before the change was made.  Another issue that came up was with the half bath (powder room). I supplied the Behrplus paint for this room and on Saturday the guys informed me that it wasn't coating well. I asked if they needed another gallon and they said no. Well by Monday the owner contacted me and asked if we could go get more paint.  My issue here is that I was at work and my husband who works the night shift sleep was interrupted for one because the job was delayed and not completed on Sunday. I tried to schedule the job on his off weekend. And now he has to wake up and drive to go get more paint when they should have gotten it themselves or I could have gotten on Sat when I asked them about it. Overall, the painting is FANTASTIC, but the communication not to great.

Overall the project went very well. They met their deadline and did not come back for any extra costs. We were pleased with most of the work. Having lived in it for a year now we notice areas where they over sprayed (hardwood floors, ceiling fans, etc,). To their defense the house looked like a construction zone and they may have assumed we were planning on refinishing the floors and/or replacing fixture. I would certainly use Ronald again for any updates or renovations, not just paint.

Repairs went very well. He had to cut large sections out of my ceiling to gain access to duct system. He and repaired the duct material. He replaced the dry wall material. After patching everything up he painted and replaced the popcorn ceiling. I can't even tell there was ever a repair done. This is the 3 time I have used Ronald's services. He has also painted the exterior of my home and done repair work to my outside porch railings. I own an additional house two doors down and prior to my mother in law moving in to it we did major renovations to that house to accommodate her physical limitations. I am a stickler for quality and price. Over the last 2 years I have spent aprox $20,000. in repairs and maintenance between my two houses. I will always use Ronald for all my home repair and maintenance needs. I was referred to him by a friend and it was the best reference it have ever received.

The two painters arrived early that morning and painted all day and finished after dark that evening. Ronald came by mid day to check on their progress and to make sure the quality of the work was satisfactory. They did an excellent job. My only complaint would be that it was difficult to reach Ronald by phone initially and he did not return phone calls as promptly as I would have liked. Otherwise, we were pleased with the work performed and the cost.

The paint is already to starting to peal on the ceiling.  Whenever I call him to come fix it, he says he will come out as soon as possible but never comes.  It has been 3 weeks now and he still has not been by and hasn't called.
Response from Ronald's Painting Inc
"customer refused to have this job done properly. he elected to do a spot repair as opposed to do a full area job. we have been returning his calls and have been in contact with him to try and resolve the matter. last contact with him was by email on the day he made this report yet prior to it. this customer is using angie's list to try and bully us into doing more work at no fee to him. we do want to make the customer happy but he needs to be reasonable and angie's list customers should shun this particular person's attempts to use angie's list to try and take advantage of those of us on the contractor side."

Ronald(owner) was the one to stop bye for the estimate. He, by far was the most professional out of the 4 estimates. His estimate was quick and told me what to expect from his crew. The presentation of the estimate paperwork was fantastic. Everything was spelled out in black and white. Also, he had several payment options, cash check, or credit card. His crew was on time and worked quickly and cleanly. They completed all ceilings and trim the first day and painted the walls the second day. They were extremely skillful and fast. A few lines could have been straighter, but that's me being EXTREMELY picky. Today I called him back to get another estimate on the second phase of the painting.

I am extremely pleased with the end result. Ronald's painting crew is great to work with and responsive to your needs. They did a fabulous job! They did an excellent job caulking creases, triming, repairing siding, drywalling (to do a great job drywalling) and overall painting. They paid close attention not to drop a single droplet of paint on my new roof. The crew is very personable and wants to please the customer. I am a picky owner and therefore placed blue tape in areas that needed touch ups and they were all taken care of promptly. They take care of their customers and you sense that they truly appreciate your business. I wish I had hired them to paint my interior. They are reasonably priced and great to work with. I even received a thank you card in the mail from the company thanking me for my business. I highly recommend the company and will be using them in the future.

They were one of four companies that had excellent reviews on Angie's List that gave us estimates. The estimate was done Saturday morning and was very thorough and professional. Their estimate was in line with 2 of the others (one estimate was over 50% more than the others). After a 20% Angie's List discount, they ended up being the least expensive. They were able to start Monday and actually showed up a little early (8am) and said they should be able to finish on Wednesday. The head painter's English was good and there was only a little language barrier that we were able to overcome with some of our Spanish knowledge. 3 guys started the job on Monday and it quickly became apparent that they would not be able to finish by Wednesday. The color in the kitchen seemed different from the one we requested and when they confirmed it was the correct color that they used, we requested they change it and the charge was a reasonable $400. Compounding the fact that it looked a lot lighter than the paint sample, the paint store people allegedly putting the wrong color on the paint cans. But it all seemed to be a misunderstanding in the end and they were more than happy to paint the kitchen a different color. There were several problems with the job they did. The paint kept cracking after it was applied in the living room and bedroom. They kept saying that one more coat would fix it and they did not need to prime as we had suggested. Eventually, after trying 5 coats of paint, It was resolved only after they primed it with some special primer, even though they had already tried 5 coats of paint. There is a lot of paint on the floor and the carpet which is not acceptable. It was simply careless on their part. The paint job overall was not that good. In some areas that you can still see the previous color through the new paint, and the edges and corners were not done well either. We're surprised that they were given such good reviews. They were helpful and friendly. Ronald came to let us know that they would correct any issues. However, the paint job itself was not very good. In order to finish quickly, they brought 7 workers to the house on Thursday and with so many people working so fast, the quality most likely suffered as the quantity became the important focus instead of the quality. On Friday, they finally applied the "special" primer to the cracking paint and this corrected the problem. However, they missed one small stairwell wall and needed to come for a few hours on Saturday afternoon to finish. There were some problems and touch-ups that were also done on Friday that were completed correctly but that still could not mask the poor trim throughout and the paint on the floors throughout. They were all very nice and apologized for all the problems and errors, but in the end, the paint job just wasn't very good.

Great. Consultant came out to give an estimate. Walked me through paint options. The crew knocked out the work in about a day-and-a-half. They were respectful of me working from home while they were here. Great workers and just generally a good group of guys! Additionally, Ronald (owner) followed up and had his crew come out to do touch up work and fix some minor issues - at no extra charge.

I got a quick response and an estimate the next day. I told him when we needed the job done, and they started two days later and finished in one day less than he told me, which was great. We even hired them to do more work once they finished the initial project. Painting laminate cabinets isn't an easy job, they had to be primed and then painted several coats, and all the doors and hardware and shelves had to be removed and done separately. They did an excellent job!

It went very well. The estimate was right on. The workers were here when they should be and were extremely efficient, finishing in 2-3 days. I pointed out some boards that I thought should be replaced and they did so. It cost a little extra but there was no issue. I did get Angie's 20% discount which was great. They came in $1000 less than 2 other contractors. I chose some pretty similar colors to my existing paint so it wasn't a drastic change. Modesto was very responsive and I called 5 times. They didn't mind working with me when they needed the windows open. I didn't feel comfortable not being there while they did this, so they waited until I could be there to do it. Then, they promptly finished that part of the job. The only drawback was some communication issues with using Spanish, but no negative consequences resulted from it, only some patience. I would and have already recommended this company again.

I emailed the company on a Sunday and Ronald responded that night. He came by and gave me an estimate on Monday. On Tuesday at 8am his crew was at my house ready to start paining. That's responsive! Great job and very clean. Ronald was very professional and gave me a discount for using Angie's List.
