What started out as a great experience really ended very poorly. Quoting process was great, and Ron was very responsive. First Saturday of job, 6 crew members showed up and patched and repaired all the work, and we thought this was really going to go fast and efficient.
Every day thereafter, 2-3 crew members would show up and work 8-9 hours each day. They were prompt and polite. However, toward the end of the first week, we noticed that not much progress was being made. People would come into our house and ask, ?that?s all they were able to do?? We asked Ron for an estimate of when the project would be complete, and we never got a response except to say that the colors we had chosen (lighter) were difficult to paint over the dark existing color and were taking more coats than estimated, which we understood. We agreed to pay an extra $200 to cover additional paint.
Toward the middle of the second week, we started getting very impatient as to when the job would be complete, as it was taking a complete 2 weeks to paint 3,000 sq ft, which was much slower than any other painting job we?ve ever had (we have had two other complete interior repaints done on previous homes). My husband observed a few of the crew members repeatedly texting or talking on their cell phones whenever he would be in the same room with them. All 3 members would be working on the same room, which seemed very inefficient when so much had to be done. There was one crew member who came in during the second week that was awesome and quick and very efficient, but the rest of them just seemed to be poking around. We did mention this to Ron as just a heads up as to what we were observing, and received no response. We were not able to unpack any of our boxes because this was taking so long.
At the end of the second week (14 days after the project was complete), the painting was finished but they were just installing the curtain rods we had contracted them to do. We realized that I had purchased all the wrong sizes, so instead of delaying them any further, I told the crew member on site we would finish this portion ourselves and that they didn?t have to return. The same person showed up at our doorstep at 8am the next morning to finish, which totally surprised us because we had just told him he didn?t need to return. So, he left and then rang a few minutes later to collect the check, but I had not received an invoice. Ron messaged me an invoice that still included the money to install the curtains (which they did not do). So I asked him whether we wanted to resend the invoice or just have me deduct the money. No response. So I gave the guy his check minus the money for the curtain rods. Ron texted me hours later to say ?Well you should only take [half] off, I had to send my guy over there today for nothing.? This is after I had specifically told the same guy who showed up NOT to come the following day. (And it wasn't really "for nothing" considering he collected payment). I honestly have never had a service person be so rude.
While the rooms were nicely coated, a lot of the finishing work was very sloppy. Paint was all over light switches, on baseboards, on our hardwood floor, on our showerhead, and they never came and cleaned it up. I asked them to spot paint ceilings and some were left unpainted. I suppose Ron was so upset with us that he didn?t feel the need to come inspect and finish the job (he came once during the process and did a great job of telling his guys what to redo or finish up). I would never, ever recommend them for their efficiency, professionalism or neatness. To pay $6200 for this quality of work is absurd.
"customer refused to have this job done properly. he elected to do a spot repair as opposed to do a full area job. we have been returning his calls and have been in contact with him to try and resolve the matter. last contact with him was by email on the day he made this report yet prior to it. this customer is using angie's list to try and bully us into doing more work at no fee to him. we do want to make the customer happy but he needs to be reasonable and angie's list customers should shun this particular person's attempts to use angie's list to try and take advantage of those of us on the contractor side."
