"We hired Dario's Tile Service to install a porcelain tile kitchen backsplash. We are very pleased with the install. Mr. Dario is very skilled and meticulous. I pointed out to Mr. Dario a slight change that I wanted made in the installation. Without hesitation, he made the change. The backsplash looks wonderful. I appreciated that he was easy to work and I highly recommend him."

"Excellent. I could not find the right size tile to fix the hole. The old tile measured 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 but I could only find tile that measured 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 which would have made it look ugly. Chris cleaned the old tile pieces and put it back together so that it looks like the day it was tiled."

"Amazing! My husband and I recently purchased our first home which is almost 100 years old. Luckily we are just updating previously renovated spaces. Freedom installed awesome slate tile in our kitchen, a stylish printed ceramic tile in our guest bath floor, subway tile on our bathroom wall, and also repaired some original hardwood floor! They truly were amazing, giving us accurate advice on recommended repairs and they did it right. They did not skip steps and wanted to make sure we were pleased with results. With any work there is some added mess, but we are so pleased we want to hire them again for our master bathroom tile floor and shower! Maria and Chris are very sweet and have a great team behind them, they have been our favorite company we have worked with yet!"

Customers say: Quality work

"If I could give Marty 10 stars I would!! He did an absolutely beautiful job of tiling the floors, shower enclosure and tub enclosure in our master and guest bathrooms. His work is meticulous, and it is evident that he takes pride in it. Martyâ s communication throughout the project was outstanding, with his wanting to be sure I got exactly what I wanted (I did!). He kept to the schedule he originally gave me, even though I tweaked things a little which added to his work. He put in long hours to finish the job on time, and the final result was beautiful. Every aspect of our experience with Marty was so positive, and I highly recommend him for any tiling project! Heâ s the BEST!!"

"Gail was great with my backsplash tile installation. The price was very fair compared to other estimates I had received. After coming to my home to view the space, she started work three days later (although she could have done it sooner if it weren't for my schedule) and completed the backsplash in just two days! She was a tremendous help when I asked for an expert opinion on things like grout color and size and asked all the right questions that I had not considered. I could not recommend her services enough!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

Options include clay, concrete, and slate tiles. Each offers unique durability, aesthetics, and costs.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.
