"Wes was fantastic in helping us with a home we were considering purchasing. We did not go forward with the purchase as a result of Wes explaining what the issue was and our further review of additional cost. He was professional, punctual, and easy to work with. Highly recommend if you need this work done."

"From my first Mount Valley Foundations evaluation appointment with Carlton Cisson to the construction team assigned to reconstructing and encapsulating my grusome crawl space foundation mess (Shaun Dixon, Alex Hernandez, Milton Martin and Dre Nesbitt) I experienced nothing but professionalism, positive & friendly demeanors, constant and thorough communication and a completed job above my expectations! Hoping I never have to have such foundation work ever done again, but will certainly call Mount Valley again, if I do!"

"I discovered mold in my crawlspace and contacted a few contractors to bid mold mitigation. HydroHelp911 was the only one that showed up on time and actually called 15 minutes prior to confirm we were still expecting them. Their estimator (Danny) was professional, thorough and answered all of our questions. Later on that night (as promised) their quote was emailed to me. My wife and I decided to hire them to remove old insulation, perform mold mitigation, install a vapor barrier and install new insulation. Danny explained up front that they were about 6 weeks out from being able to start the work. I appreciated his honesty. About 4 weeks later we started to get updates from their office manager Kyla with estimated start dates. They started within 1 day of their original start date estimated 6 weeks earlier. Their crew showed up on time, prepared and went right to work. They did a great job and cleaned up when they were done. These days it is almost impossible to find a company tht shows up when they say they will, performs the work as discribed and follows through on all their promises. I would Highly recommend HydroHelp 911."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a mixture of 1 tablespoon of bleach and a gallon of warm water to clean stubborn stains from brick. Do not use bleach without diluting it in water. Undiluted bleach may cause discoloration. You can use either Oxygen bleach such as OxiClean or chlorine bleach. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling bleach.

Cobblestone can be made from many different types of stones but the most common ones, by far, are granite, basalt, limestone, and sandstone.  If you are laying a brick paver patio or other such project, the medium is different. It’s rare, but cobblestone can also be made from marble, slate, jasper, and other types of rock. Technically, you can make cobblestone from almost any type of rock, but if it is weather-resistant and stands the test of time is another question entirely.

Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. The drill bit will heat up as it goes into the extremely hard brick, so you may need to stop after a few minutes and allow the bit to cool before starting to drill again.

No, using a power sander on brick is not recommended because the force of the sander can destroy brick's fragile outer layer. Even using sandpaper on brick is discouraged because of the damage its abrasiveness can cause.

Yes, brick can breathe through limewash. Limewash is a breathable coating made from natural lime and water, allowing moisture to pass through while providing a protective layer. Unlike synthetic paints or sealants, which can trap moisture within the brick and lead to issues like mold, limewash allows the brick to maintain its natural breathability. This characteristic makes limewash an ideal choice for historic structures where preserving the integrity of the brick is essential.
