"I called another company first but they didn't answer their phone, so I tried A Clean Sweep. Owner Paul answered immediately and, after I told him what was needed, he scheduled me for the same day! Mike was punctual, early in fact, and I certainly appreciated his professional manner and explanation of the services he was performing. He was thorough and was even able to replace a lost louver for the vent cap outside. Excellent service! I highly recommend them for all vent cleaning and plan to call them as needed for our new home."

"Working with All Out Chimney has been an amazing experience for me - I will be a lifelong customer! My initial reach out to them was to find a second opinion about some work that needed to be done. I had been told by the guy from Owens Chimney Systems when he came to do a routine chimney sweep that my chimney was dangerous, unusable and estimated that I needed $15,000 of work to make it safe. OMG! I freaked out! I love building fires, but I do not have that kind of money. When I reached out to All Out Chimney for a second opinion, I learned SO MUCH from the very knowledgeable Jamie in her email that described the process of cleaning out the creosote buildup, assuring me that there would be no way to know if I needed further work until that part was completed. Even if I needed the work the other company suggested, their estimate came in lower by thousands of dollars. As it turns out, Jarrell (awesome!) came to do a new inspection, did the initial creosote cleanout and some repairs to the top of my chimney and back wall of my fireplace and then concluded that I had a safe chimney and did not, in fact, need any of the more pricey options - settling it all out for less than $4,500. for the knowledge and expertise (and NOT using scare tactics!!), I will be a lifelong customer of All Out Chimney Sweep and I recommend that you try them out and see for yourself. High regards!! 5-star - much respect. Thank you so much for what you have done, Ashley McGee"

"My home has a chimney that was unsafe to use (cracked masonry liner). I dreaded the time and cost of a tear down and replacement. I contacted "Shamrock Chimney" and scheduled an appointment with their lead technician "Tony". He suggested a less costly and safer alternative (steel liner and a resealing of the outer brickwork. The work was performed over a two-day period. I am fully satisfied with the results. One thing I really apricate is the communication during the project. The "front office" would let me know by either phone or email when the project would start, and then Tony and would give me updates. All and all the whole process went smoothly. Also, this was my first time with "Angi", I hope to use their services again in the future."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Start by confirming your fuel type, as rural homes outside Monroe often use propane instead of natural gas. Next, determine if your property falls within city limits or unincorporated county lines to ensure proper permitting. Schedule your permit applications and inspections early, especially before the busy fall heating season. Finally, check if your home sits in a historic district, which requires extra approval for exterior venting modifications during gas log service.

Helpful?

North Carolina law strictly prohibits homeowners from modifying or repairing gas pipes. For safe gas log service preparation, visually inspect your firebox for debris and clear combustible items from the surrounding area. Check your manual shutoff valve position and replace batteries in your remote or wall switch. If you smell gas, evacuate your home immediately and call emergency services from outside. Never attempt to diagnose a gas leak yourself.

Helpful?

High summer humidity in Monroe accelerates rust and corrosion on burner assemblies and vented fireplace components. Heavy spring pollen also clogs exterior vents. Because local ice storms often cause power outages, residents rely heavily on fireplaces for backup heat. Schedule your annual gas log service in late summer to ensure your system operates safely and efficiently before the peak winter demand brings longer wait times for local professionals.

Helpful?

Older Monroe homes built between the 1970s and 1990s frequently contain undersized black iron pipes that require mandatory upgrades to meet current building codes. Additional unexpected factors during gas log service include adding required flue liners to older masonry chimneys or updating carbon monoxide detectors. Converting a traditional wood-burning fireplace also introduces extra steps like damper modifications, thorough smoke shelf cleaning, and mandatory safety inspections by certified specialists.

Helpful?

Many homes in NC feature crawlspace foundations, which present routing and access challenges due to moisture or limited clearance. If you own a two-story property with an upper-floor fireplace, the increased distance from the meter adds significant labor complexity. Additionally, vaulted ceilings in modern subdivisions require specialized direct-vent configurations. Assess your attic access and chimney dimensions, as non-standard older flues make gas log service much more difficult for professionals.
