"We love our stone steps installed by Alan with Lemonade Landscaping! They function perfectly and such an improvement over the previous steps that were broken and shallow. Alan communicated well and promptly and the pricing was beyond fair! He is personable and caring. We would definitely recommend this company for your landscaping needs!!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Lester didn’t give me the highest or lowest estimate. What he gave me was a very thorough walkthrough of what needed to be done and how he would accomplish it. He was well organized and has great communication skills. I was very pleased to do business with him and hope I can hire him for more work in the future."

"We hired Vale Construction to install over 3000 square feet of thin stone veneer. Valentin and his crew worked diligently to complete the job. They were professional, efficient, flexible, and always keep an open line of communication. Valentin was open to feedback and help troubleshoot a couple areas that we were not sure how to handle. I highly recommend Vale Construction and hope to have their help on future projects."

"Technicians from Streamline were punctual, courteous, and very professional. They identified the problem and came up with a plan to replace the entire gas line that was in the attic and ran along the cathedral ceiling down to the fireplace in the living room. They replaced it with minimal damage to the drywall. They were finished with the job in less time than they estimated. We were extremely pleased with the entire process. There was a minor issue with the length of the gas line that hooked to the logs being slightly too long. Once the problem was identified by the gas company, we called Streamline and the same technicians returned the next day and rectified the problem."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, brick can breathe through limewash. Limewash is a breathable coating made from natural lime and water, allowing moisture to pass through while providing a protective layer. Unlike synthetic paints or sealants, which can trap moisture within the brick and lead to issues like mold, limewash allows the brick to maintain its natural breathability. This characteristic makes limewash an ideal choice for historic structures where preserving the integrity of the brick is essential.

Brick and stone are durable, low-maintenance materials for siding and walls that offer excellent insulation, aesthetic appeal, and can increase property value.

Mortar is a mixture of sand and cement that binds materials, such as bricks, stones, and concrete blocks, together. Think of it as the glue that fills in the gaps between bricks and stones, then seals them in place to prevent damage or deterioration. Mortar also helps spread the load across a wall or structure, keeping cracks and shifting at bay.

A well-made brick wall can last up to 100 years if maintained properly, which includes regularly repairing the mortar every 30 to 50 years. If your brick wall is under 30 years old and is already showing signs of repair, it may be due to poor brickwork and installation. Extreme weather conditions can also accelerate a brick wall’s life span (especially the exterior of a house).

No, you shouldn’t lay bricks directly on dirt. While it might seem like a shortcut, it leads to a patio that shifts, sinks, and becomes a maintenance headache. Dirt expands, contracts, and erodes—none of which mix well with long-term stability. To build something that lasts, excavate the topsoil, compact a layer of crushed gravel, and add a coarse sand-setting bed. This layered base gives your bricks proper support, allows drainage, and helps block weeds from creeping through. Cutting corners here just means you’ll spend more time—and money—repairing your brick patio later.
