We achieve this goal by providing top quality scientifically proven service each and every time, by forming long term positive relationships with our customers, by keeping a staff of well trained professional technicians, and by being 100% honest in all of our dealings. WCPM will celebrate 5 years of service in 2008. We take great pride in what we do and form long-term relationships with our customers. "Absolutely first rate!!! Honest, candid, and supremely professional. Fantastic communications—both in the oral report and the incredibly detailed written report. Not simply pointing out issues but offering in depth recommendations for fixes. When Hugh said he’d inspect the new house we just bought as if it was for himself or his parents, it wasn’t just salesmanship “happy talk” or empty promises. The thoroughness of the inspection is eye popping! The entire process was painless, seamless, and smooth as silk. We’re very confident in the quality of the inspection and recommend Smoky Mountain Home Inspections wholeheartedly. One of the very best professionals we ever dealt with, in any area. If a ten star rating was an option, it would be fully deserved. Thank you! Dr Lani Kass"

"We had these clowns come out to deal with a mole issue we had. My wife initially met with them. I showed up when they were working out a time to treat our yard. The first guy kept telling us that we didn’t need to be present for the job but over the years we’ve learned that without being around the job rarely gets done properly. So how did he get around this, by sending a guy out to treat our yard in the dark. The second guy showed up at 610pm and at my door by 615pm. I covered what he was supposed to do, which he had a look as that wasn’t what his boss told him to do. He said he was putting down poison granules to kill grubs. I looked out my window and he was walking around my yard with a hand spreader. 15-20 mins later he was back at my door telling me he was done. I knew he didn’t do anything. With a push spreader I can’t do my front yard in 15 mins. He was supposed to do my front and back yard. After he left, I looked and nothing was on the ground anywhere. So I canceled the check. No work, no pay. I contacted them and told them I canceled the payment and why. No where in the conversation did they ask how to fix the situation or they will be out to see what wasn’t done. All they wanted was their money. They called my wife wanting their payment and sent a threatening letter about their payment. Nothing about fixing the situation. 2 days ago, they sent the guy back out for the second non-treatment with the same guy. I was looking down at the guys hand spreader and all he had in it was air. He spread air in my yard. Don’t use these idiots. All they want is your money. If you do use they insure they aren’t spraying water and spreading air. $525 down the drain and yes my wife caved and paid them. First 2 pics are front yard and second 2 are backyard. No granules."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

When woodpeckers start banging on your walls or roof, they are probably looking for insects to eat, storing nuts for winter, drilling a hole to make a nest, or communicating with other birds to establish territory or find a mate.

The size of the hole can help determine the reason for the pecking. Small irregular holes are a result of insect hunts. Acorn holes are more consistently sized and often fitted with a nut in the middle. Nest holes are large and have rounded edges. If the bird is pecking to mark its territory or attract a mate, it may leave dents rather than holes, and the noise will stop when the mating season starts in spring.

To make sure the removal process goes smoothly, try asking your pro the following questions:

  • Are you licensed and insured?

  • How much experience do you have with relocating beehives?

  • Do you remove the honey and honeycomb?

  • Do you relocate the bees alive?

  • Do you have any references from previous clients?

The best animal repellents for gardens include a variety of different scents. You can use predator urine to keep away deer, raccoons, squirrels, and more. The odor will tell the critters that your yard is a dangerous place. Other scents that repel critters are herbs like lavender, geranium, and mint. You can also use hot pepper, garlic, and strong-smelling soap.

Spider mites hate high humidity, strong air circulation, and potent smells like peppermint oil. Utilizing these factors can help deter spider mites so that they don’t feast on your plant leaves and inhibit growth. If you try these methods and spider mites still won’t leave, it’s time to hire a professional pest control service to tackle the task.

How often you need pest control depends on your infestation problem. If you have a one-off issue, such as a wasp nest in a high-traffic area, you shouldn't need regular service. However, if you live in an area prone to ticks, termites, and ants, you'll likely need at least an annual pest control service. If the problem is persistent and significant, you may need quarterly or monthly service.
